I was thinking today how nice it would be to have it set up so that if you're running your A/C and you needed to stomp on it that your A/C wouldn't drag you down, or you wouldn't have to scramble for the A/C button to shut it off. This is an OEM feature on some cars, like Saturns appear to have it. It only does it when you floor the gas pedal. Then it dawned on me that this would be a very simple mod to make. You could do it one of three ways. If you knew enough about how the TPS works, you could use that to activate an A/C cutout relay. I wouldn't try this method even if I knew enough about the TPS, simply because you'd have to put in diodes or some protective measure to make sure you didn't interfer with or short something out in the TPS. The safer and easier way would be to install a normally closed switch under your dash that would only be depressed when the gas pedal is floored. Basically all this switch would do is interrupt the wire that goes from the switched side of your A/C button to the A/C and would function the same as if you had reached over and shut off the A/C just as you floored the gas. If for some reason the current going through the A/C switch in the dash was rather high (which I highly doubt) and your pedal activated switch wasn't up to the task of interrupting that much current, you could use that switch to operate a properly rated relay which would interrupt the power going through the A/C switch. It'd be inexpensive and relatively easy to do. I'm going to do it and when I'm done I'll post info on how it went and post pics of it.

doesnt your A/C disengae when your floor it? it should cause every nissan i have owned or worked on does. if yours doesnt, its probably because the TPS is out of adjustment. it should read 4 volts at WOT

Yes when the TPS sees what it thinks is full throtle it cuts off the AC. Just hard to tell unless its a really really hot day because the air coming out of the vents will still be cool. Put it on fresh air, and on high, then floor it. After a few seconds the air should be starting to warm up as the compressor is off.

Ok, I'm retarded. I think I discussed this awhile back and was told this and I must have forgotten that. :) Oh well, it's a good idea for a car that doesn't cutout the A/C.

ive noticed that when the A/C is on go to WOT. It takes about a half a second to happen but you can feel a small spike in power. whoala a/c compressor kicked out.. get out of the throttle and immediately my revs drop under the A/C load. if you could make a switch that would only allow the a/c compressor to operate under cruising conditions i would be truly impressed.

I would like a switch that rolls up my windows when I floor it on the highway. VROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!!!
I didnt know our cars already had the a/c thing. Thats good to know!

No problem smooth daddy, I'll draw you up the diagram tomorrow. :) Just remember, that it will always roll your windows up when you bottom out the throttle though, and even if your windows are up it'll try to roll them up. :) Don't quite know enough about electonics to tell you how to put a limiter switch in so that it would know when the windows were already up. Could always put limter switches in though, but not the electronic ones like are typically integrated into OEM power window systems. It'd be more trouble than it is worth. Black93's suggestion is also feasible, you'd have to use the TPS or utilize tach resistance to do it, but it could be done fairly easily I'd think. Don't know how exactly, but there are guys on here that could do it. One guy for sure. :)

I'm thinking that my TPS might be out of adjustment. When I'm flooring it I don't feel any A/C drag, but if I keep it floored the air never gets warm, but if I floor it and turn off the a/c it does. I'm going to try it out when I'm in lower gears and see if I feel a boost when I switch off the A/C. If I do, maybe the A/C isn't cutting out because the TPS is out a little. Is adjusting the TPS a big deal?
