Does anyone have this kind of symptom? This occurs to me after I did my throttle cable tensioning. The problem occurs after I hard break or release the pedal from hard acceleration or even idling at at red light. Does anyone know the cause of this problem? I've undone the tensioning and gave it enough slack but the problem doesn't seem to go away. There are times when I really have to tap the throttle to unfreeze it but of course in doing so my car jerk forward. It's really strange!

The process in which I followed to tension my throttle cable was the same process for advance timing, ie unplugged the TPS, rev two or three times over 3000 rpm, hold constant at 2000 rpm etc, then tensioning.....could this be the wrong process? How would I rectify this problem? Guys, I would appreciate if anyone of you can provide some insights as the problem becomes very annoying and could be dangerous when I need to quick accelerate but unable because of the problem! Thank you in advance..

Clean out your throttle body. Chances are, there's a ridge of carbon gook build-up in there, and that little ridge is binding the throttle plate.

I had the same symptoms on my Pathfinder, and it worked like a charm.

Hope this helps. :)

you know what this has been happening to me quite frequently. I cleaned out the throttle body as is no dirt at all. I took the TB off and cleaned it out really well and now I am having some problems.

Greg,

I don't suspect the problem is due to the dirt in my throttle body as the car is brand new - 23500 km on it. And I take care of it and clean it more than I clean myself. :)

Bryan,

Have you fixed the problem or is it still occuring to you? Don't you hate it? I need to fix it soon.

wellm the throttle cable itself could get caught on the throttle body, causing it to keep it open.

also, if the throttle cable is bound up at all, or is routed differently, it can cause the engine to rev. anyone who has moved their throttle cable around while it is running knows this.
