Well, with all that's gone on, my mechanic added that my brakes are in horrible shape. He said that I need new pads and rotors all around. I'm really hurting for money. So, I was wondering what the best deals are out there? I saw the brembos on Stranoparts.com for $49/front and $40/rear. I typically use Axxis Metalmaster pads, which I get for $36/front from philsinc.com.

Also, how do you know when your calipers need to be replaced?

I bought the Brembo OE-type rotors last summer and have been very happy with them. They are holding up fine with my Hawk street pads and daily driving / autocrossing / track lapping.

If the rotors are warped (breaks shimmy or chatter when you press the petal), they are too thin, or have excessive run-out, you have to replace them. I found that most shops will not turn rotors any more, they only replace them.

i take it that those brembo pads are OE replacements. why not get performance brake pads, they cost a little more but since you gotta replace the pads anyways, that sorta cuts the cost. I have used stillen metal matrix pads and love them. you might also want to rebuild your calipers and master cylinder which is only $15 worth of seals and relatively simple. the brake fluid system is sorta like your cooling system, if it is not sealed and cannot maintain pressure, it will let in moisture, and lower the boiling point.

No, I'm saying I need pads and rotors. I'm pretty set on the Axxis MetalMatrix pads. Those have served me quite well. The Brembos are rotors. I can get them for $49/each. I was wondering if anyone knew of a better deal since I'm broke as all hell!

Sounds like you have geat prices already. I have tried several brake combos and have found rotors that cheap. Maybe it's because I have the bigger brake on my NX.

I use metal masters, and they are quite nice. I just wanted to point out there are new pads from axxis called Ultimates. I have heard they are even better. You might want to check them out as well.

Some say oem is all you need in the rear, and i kinda agree. I may have wasted a few bux on the rears. Whatever.

Sorry about that, I realized that after I had already finished writing. Maybe I should have just said pads and rotor Q or something......
