Here's the deal, I visited with Brian today and we started talking about how hard and sometimes lame it is to try and get people together to do anything on a consistent basis.

We have a ton of people in the area from Crystal River down to Bradenton and out to Lakeland, and it just seems odd that very few people are willing to "help" out another member, and on the reverse, have a hard time asking for help. We have enough knowledge in the area, that if we pooled our resources, no one would ever have an undone project, no matter how large or small.

For those of us who don't "know everything", even helping out w/o knowing anything gives us an opportunity to learn and an opportunity to grow as a group. In the old days, when you wanted to learn something, you learned by helping... kind of like an apprenticeship.

Brian and I figured, that once a month, we could "help out" another member with a project, sort of like a monthly geek-out. Projects could be anything from doing a clutch to clay barring and detailing a car... none to big, none to small. Not everybody would have to show up, but hopefully at least one person who has performed the project before would be nice.

Now for the hard part... if you have a project that needs doing, just ask. And for the harder part, for me, there would be some sort of moral obligation to also help another member with a project. We have enough people/cars, but I don't think we have room for "users"... the people that always want something done for them, but never have the "time" to help others out.

This is a great way to learn more about your car, get some "tight" ties with our small community, and maybe make some new friends or even network for things outside of the sr20 world. I've probably read and searched for answers on this forum and the old se-r list more than anybody here. And I've found out the hard way, just reading about how to do something and even "understanding" it is not the same as doing it.

Share some of your knowledge, learn from others and watch your Karma grow.

This thread is open to any and all feedback.

i'm always here to help out with parts or knowledge what lil i have and a place and hand for projects big or small.

i always just want company when i'm working in my garage. i hate working alone and often i dont work b/c there is no one coming over.

like right now for instance, i'm almost done with my project but no one comes by to chat or anything

I have tried to help people locally and meet up with people but they think im a serial killer and just avoid me at all cost. So i dont try anymore, ill go to meets, chat with some people and thats all. Im tired of trying to meet up with members. Theres a few new members that are very close to me and i say "you should go to the local meets that the forum setup or wanna meet up sometime?" cause they're basically no st.pete people (atleast non that wanna hang out) so i give up on people. Sorry if i am talking in circles but it pisses me off.

this is a great idea and I would totally be down for this...I know I live in SRQ but I have come up before with Lucifer to Brians and helped but in a shifter...that was fun. I will probably need a engine swap weekend here soon as with a new clutch
install...hopefully within a month or so. I know lucifer and I are down though for pretty much anything.

Click click click.... who's the mod for this area? I'd really like to make this a sticky.

What I'd also like to see is people nominating projects that need to be done, and then pick one. Heck, if we have enough people show up, it's possible to accomplish more than one project... been there, done that.

Heck, I've got space and tools... 2 car garage, out of the weather, cool little kids who love to help, screened back porch with a barbecue, etc...

I'll start by giving my address and phone number.

Ok, paranoia has kicked in... sad.

Pm me for address and phone number.

I know that Will's been here before;).

Heck, buy Danny's exhaust, have him ship it here and we'll put it on.

Could you give me a shipping quote to 33709 and we can negotiate a price from there. Sound good?

That might be a bad idea to give your address, Not saying i dont trust anyone but im sure there are some bad apples out there.

Point taken, but it's not like they can get into the garage, plus it's a pretty "tight" neighborhood, we watch out for each other.

P.S. offer Danny $50 shipped;)
