well basically when i bought these i was not thinking about overlap. here is my question. i want to rev to 8500 and i thought the stage 3's would make more power in the higher rpm. i have springs and ti retainers, jwt valve guides, and seals

should i buy some cam gears and try to tune out the overlap or just buy some stage 2's? also if some one could inform me on how to check that the cams do not have over lap after they are adjusted.

The only way you will get that turbo to run smooth is with cam gears bro, and you would want cam gears on the stage 2's with turbo also for best results.

I was about to PM Charles the same question. We have a car here that was NA with BC Stage 3's and is now getting a SC61. It will be primarily for drag, so we want to maximize the upper RPM's, especially with such a big turbo.

Hopefully he will chime in with his input on using the stage 3's or stage 2's with larger turbos.

but what would be better. putting on cam gears and having them tuned, or just putting a set of stage 2's in. i plan on making around 500 hp.

going with the cam gears will be alot more expensive, but i want to make reliable power. i just need some advice.

I have a noob-ish question...

I thought the BC cams were developed for a turbo motor, so why would they still require cam gears?

I thought the same thing. I bought the stage III brian crowers for my built det which is almost ready to run and i was thinking that i would be fine using them without adjustable cam gears. Im running a t25 for a little while until i decide what gt series turbo to upgrade to. Maybe im ***** have to drop some $ on cam gears....it just keeps adding up

well i guess that the stage 3's have some over lap, and you want no over lap on a high hp turbo motor i think on a t25 they should be fine. i am still learning on this subject. i need to do some more research.

the bigger turbo you run, the more cam the engine can handle. Most GT35R-GT40R honda guys run 300 deg cams in the engines and they make power to 9000+rpm.

stg3's make more power everywhere over stg2's up to 6500rpm with a t28 or larger.

if you go GT30R, then deff the stg3's

as far as power to 8500rpm, you should be running a GT35R or a GT30R with a .82 turbine housing. trying to rev to 8500 with a .63 housing is a waste in top end power. .63 just keep it to 7500or so .

Just make sure you have the 00+ RR lifters for over 8000rpm.

So what cam is best for a smallish GTi-R T28? Stage 2?

i am running a precision sc60 with t04s compressor housing. its rated at 580 whp. ok i am gonna stick with these cams and see what happends
