Anytime I have sold a car I either write a bill of sale or fill out a special form from the registry to save the person on sales tax and sing the title over. I am supposed to be selling my car saturday and the kid buying it says i have to bring the title to a notary and have it stamped , i have never heard of this can anyone jump in and tell me if i am right and only need a bill of sale or form and the signed title.

I've always notarized the "bill of sale" not the title when selling a car to an out of state buyer.

i've sold plenty of cars to out of state buyers and have never had a title notorized..one time i had a forum member tell me the same thing but it tirned out to be if the car was being sold in his state he had to notorize it but if it's coming from another state(like ma)all i had to do is follow the ma laws and he had no problems on his end...good luck...
