: S13 DET Question....

What up everyone! I have a couple of quick questions: 1) I have a S13 DET in my car, but it didn't come with a shifter for the tranny. Now, I know everyone's gonna be like "use the stock shifter from the 240!" Right? But, the car isn't a 240 ;) So, I don't have that option. I already have a shifter for the car, but now my problem is that I'm missing the two little "tabs" that go on the shifter to align it. I have no clue what they're called or what they look like all I know is that there's some slots opposite each other on the inner walls of where the shifter goes on the tranny and there's some corresponding slots on the shifter itself. Does anyone know what goes there, what it looks like, where I can get them, anything?! Any help woud be GREATLY appreciated.

Now, my second question is: how much and what type of gear lube does this tranny take? I'm pretty sure it's probably never been changed. Also, where do you drain and refil it?

TIA to everyone!!!!

The shifter Im clueless about.

But the drain plug on the tranny is a bolt looking thing on the side of the tranny. (it looks like you can slide the head of a wratchet in it, its the only one that looks like it does, so there no mistaking it)

And I think your suppose to use 80w-90 gear oil or 75w-90. Something like that.

Sweet, thanks! Where do you fill it up at, though? I know the FWD SR uses 75W90, but wasn't sure about the RWD; thanks for confirming that! BTW, you wouldn't happen to know the capacity, would you?

to refill i, it should be like any other car.
if its like almost al other cars its where u check the tranny fluid
u knw where u ceck tranny fluid??
u remove the dipstick and place afunel in it and pore the tranny liquid in it. its easy should take a minute or so.

you can also fill it up by removing the shifter and pouring in the hole there.... no worries! thats what we did with my SR... speaking of which its time for fluid change for tranny and diff

Do you know the capacity for the tranny and the dif? Thanks!

The diff is something like 3.2 pints. I picked up 2 quarts of gear lube when I did my LSD swap.

The tranny shouldn't be more than 3....I don't know off the top of my head. Just fill it until it oozes out of the side hole.

As Nox240 pointed out, the easiest way is to pour it in the shifter hole. Make sure someone is around when you are doing it. They are going to freak when they see you getting into the car with an open container of oil!!

I think he's asking about an manual transmission and not an automatic.
