I have a question. Since I installed my CAI (last night), I have had my car turn on, and then just stall, like the engine revs to around 1500 or so upon ignition, and then the tach just falls. I think I recall someone saying this is the MAFS saying there is too much air getting to the engine? True? Not sure if this was the same problem. The CAI works good, but is my MAFS broken? Thanks!

sure you have every thing hooked back up ? no leaks ? try swaping a maf from another sr to see if its falty.

Easier said than done. I don't realy have anyone around me. I'm almost positive that has to be the problem. Can anyone back up my theory? Thanks BTW nick. I'll check my plugs again tomorrow. Could it also be the air temp sensor? On the HS CAI it sort of is just half assed pushed in the little ROUND hole for an OVAL sensor. Great design HS, great design...

nah, the air temp sensor wouldn't cause that. i know 'cause i left mine out @ first. all that did was gimme a MIL.
be absolutely sure you don't have any cracks or gaps around the boots. if you get unmetered air your engine will not run right. if you get too much unmetered air your car will do just what it is doing now...die.
i never heard of getting too much air. think about it, the inner diameter of your MAF is the most air that you can push through the intake. hypothetically you could completely remove the secondary pipe and still only get the same amount as you would w/ it on.
the only way you can truly troubleshoot the prob is to revert back to your old setup one piece @ a time. once the prob goes away then you have your answer. this may be more of a PITA than you're willing to deal w/ but it's the only thing i can think of right now.

you gotta lube it up, man. :D
seriously, get the lil' rubber gromet thingy from the stock airbox, where the temp sensor was. put in the HS hole and slide the temp sensor in. you may have to work it a little but it'll go in, mine did!

Make sure you did not put the MAF on backwards! Car will run like ass if that is the case!

Alright thanks for the help. I'm not sure what the problem was but it hasn't happened today. Maybe it just took the ECU a day to get used to it? I can't explain this phenomenon. Thanks for the help once again stilleto. I think that the first rubber piece is maybe off of the MAF by 1mm. Its just where I had to push the CAI assembly over to make it connect. I will try again to force that piece to go in. I know I have the MAF on correct. I'll repost tonight if it happens when I'm at work. Also...this seems to happen more if I turn the car off, and then on again in a short period of time. IE...I got gas yesterday, and 5 minutes later when I finished at 7-11, turning the car on, and it shut off. Thanks.

Did you buy a hotsot CAI. This is the same problem I had with mine. They had drilled the hole for the AIC-AAC valve the wrong size. That is why a badmouth hotshot every chance I get (also the maf adapter is poor fitting but dont get me started).

Yes I did buy this, and thank for you letting me know I'm not the only one who bought this overpriced 2nd rate CAI. First, the MAF adapter doesn't even fit that great, and you can see the rubber from the MAF because the hole for the adapter is too damn small. Second, the freaking hole for the temp sensor is gay, and won't seem to poke all the way in. For $20 more I could have gotten a PR CAI. Alas, I was ignorant at the time, and thought the HS didn't require cutting of sheet metal, and therefore I bought it instead. :( But...the sound and performance make up for it. Oh yes, as an update, it hasn't stalled at all today in my probably 10+ starts. Good sign I suppose.
