I am wondering if someone has ever had this problem?
When i got into a hard right-hand turn it feels like my steering slips and the steering wheel goes crooked, but if i stop and rotate the steering wheel a couple of times it goes back straight.Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I am hoping it's just something loose in the steering system, but i fear my steering rack is busted.Does anyone know how much a new steering rack cost and what problems in might encounter while installing it. TIA
Thanks,
Wade Greene

i doubt that your rack is busted you have to hit a curb really hard or get hit by another car to brake them ushly. i would think you have some bad ball joints or a bolt or two could be loose jack up the front give every thing a shake and check bolts then drop the car down and try to crawl under if you can or drive on some ramps and
give every thing another good shake to check for sloppiness while the suspension is loaded

I have hit some steep curves pretty hard. All the ball joints and tie rods are new it was just aligned last week. What are the signs of a busted steering rack?

not 100% sure what a bad rack feels like since i never expreanced one but if teath are broken in the rack you would feel a dead spot and loose stearing have you checked the fluid level in the power steering pump ?

Has anyone replaced their steering rack or control arm bushings before?

SE-Racer, you need to replace your steering rack bushings, especially the driver side one which holds the rack in place. It's a bitch to get at and replace but make sure you undo both sides at the same time, replace the bushings at the same time, and bolt down at the same time, this should save you a lot of grief I had to go through.
