: Intercooler repair...?

I picked up a Conquest FMIC yesterday for $20, some normal wear and tear, bent fins and the like... but I have found a smal .25"x.25" hole on one of the tubes, I think it's like the 7th one from the top. I think it's feasible to have my gf's dad patch it (he's got a ****load of welding equipment). I'm just curious if anyone's done a repair like this?
Also, what do you use to polish these things up? Specific compounds, etc?

Thanks,
Travis G.

Use sandpaper to polish it up. I started with 80 grit on mine, and gradually increased to 2000 grit. It looks really good, but use a finer grit for the final touch (4000 grit).

Take it to an experienced tig welder that knows what he's doing with aluminum. The right guy can weld together pop cans and not burn through.
