: Jwt Ecu?
B_baker03 06-15-2002, 01:40 PM I'm looking at ECU's and I'm wondering if I should just call it quits and get one from Jim Wolf. How much do they cost and is there anything else required for a new ECU (retainers, cams, valve springs). Remember, I said REQUIRED, my loan is about to the bottom of my wallet by now and I don't have a lot of cash to throw around.

Hehe. JWT is the way to go for an ECU. It costs $595 or so. You don't need anything if you just want the ECU, except on the 98-99's where you will get a CEL light unless you do some minor customization.
B_baker03 06-15-2002, 06:34 PM What is a CEL light? What does it deal with?

CEL = Check engine light.
silverser99 06-16-2002, 04:31 AM I have a 96 200sx SE-R JWT modified ECU in my car it is 595 dollars for ecu plus core charge unfortunately you cant give them your 98-99 ecu so you gotta locate a 95-97 ecu and send it to them I paid $250 for my exchange ecu so damn lotta money anyway then to get rid of pesky CEL you gotta get a O2 sensor from 95-97 SE-R ($90 I think) then bore out the O2 sensor hole and install it. I keep the CEL on cause fuck too much hassle to get rid of it. 95-97 200sx SE-Rs use bigger O2 sensor for the cat then our 98-99SEs

Or you can go to www.car-parts.com and get a ecu core for $75 or so. Then have JWT wire a resistor into the rear O2 sensor circuit to avoid the check engine light for free.

when you have JWT add in the resistor for you, do you still need to have the O2 sensor changed?
hey man, good job with the big brakes. can you tell me after you install it, how much clearance do you have with the wheel (diameter wise).
will there be room to install 1" thick rotors instead of 0.9"?
thanks
If you want the B14 wheels to work then 11 inch by .9 is the biggest you will fit. Trust me I tried and tried and tried. Otherwise, you could easily get the 11X1inch rotors but I think it is overkill. The 11.75 X.8 is also a good option. I could get the 11.75 to fit under my 15 inch rotas C8's. The .9 is plenty of rotor for our light cars.
I will be installing the ECU on the 20th. From my understanding with the resistor I don't need the rear 02 sensor at all.

Don't look at me, I don't have that kind of power (that I know of).
Yeah, just leave the stock O2 sensor in the cat. The ECU won't even know it was there. not that it used it anyway.
Spaceman Spiff 07-06-2002, 03:42 AM i deleted the post because i was thinking of opening a new thread for it, since this is an "ECU" thread.
but since i didn't have time to repost, i just left it like that. it's cool that you see it and quote it when i deleted it.
thanks for the pic steve. i'll have my brakes soon. brian ordering my rotors already. i should get it by the end of next week hopefully.
