Used one with my friend a couple of weeks ago. Allowed us to remove the transmission without taking a single bracket off the car in very little time and worked great with the impact wrench. Definitely worth the $50, IMO...

90 percent of the sockets I use are swivels. The only way I've broken one is dropping it, it must have dropped in an odd way matco replaced it free. I've put half inch impacts on them with no problem.

It's a fucking bitch if you lose one though, paying 55 dollars for a socket hurts. When the sets only like 250.

I good swivel set is def. the next step after the basic tools are bought. Whenever I go to someones place to work on their car, I always bring my swivels. I have broken about 6 swivels in the past but I use them daily.

the snap-on swivel ball sockets use a single pin in the center to allow the pivot action. matco makes a MUCHHHHHH better design buy distributing the load on 4 large corners instead of a single pin. i would suggest the matco ones.

(i own a full set of snapon swivel balls BTW)

engine sling.

you can make one if your crafty out of some 4x4 wood and bolting it together and a some stainless cord or ratcheting tie downs.

Poor quality swivels are a bad idea not only because they will break but also, on an impact, they're a safety hazard.

Ask me how I know.

I too bought the Snap-On ones, I prefer the Matco design but we do not have a dealer where I work. :(
