Well we found out a few new things! Turned the car on and it wont idle correctly, we unplug the MAF harness and it runs smoother. Since it is in fail safe mode(limp mode) it wont rev over 3 grand. So when we plug the MAF back in the car stalls out. So we check the TPS and it is in good working order. But the MAF stalls the car out. We tried my bored MAF and a stock MAF and the same results happen with both. The boost gauge is reading 12-14 vac at idle and it is running rich as hell. Everything else checks out to be in correctly but I am not ruling anything else out to be wrong. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about curing this problem. Thanks again and have a good one!

well, the running rich as hell will cause it to stall out. I guess check all the vacuum lines and the fuel pressure.

hey mark, this is exactly what's happening to my car right now. pull out the maf, and it runs better up until 3k. what was the fix for this. this is the last answer i'm looking for right now. please help.

Mark - Pull the rubber boot back on the MAF harness to make sure all of your wires still have a good connection. I had a similar problem from moving the harness and intake all around, and one of the wires broke off at the connector under the boot the other wire was only holding on by a single strand.

It was a real PITA to track down, I would get my car running I thought, then take a turn, the MAF would move, and it would barely run.

Ha, I never look at the dates. Well then I guess this could apply to you then.

This was due to a bad MAF Sensor.

All set now.

That was a different MAF problem Tony. The IC piping fell off on the passenger side of the car where I couldnt see it. That was the problem with that one!

I didnt read all the replies to the post, sorry guys.

About your problem, I would try another MAF. That would be a good start. Also check all of your IC piping and vacuum hoses. Which MAF are you using??? Hope you figure out the problem!

I have a problem were it will idle just fine and the minute you touch the gas it stalls out. Could this be due to IC piping or a bad MAF? I am running out of ideas. I have what sounds like a leak in a vacuum line around my Aeromotive FPR but I tightened it all down and it didn't help anything.

An air leak could cause the problems you are seeing. Also, check the MAF voltage to make sure it is working properly. The ECU throwing any codes?

Here's another possibility. I had a problem with very poor idle, and no power when I first started up my car after the turbo went in. In this case, it was the $5 adaptor that was used to attach the air filter to the MAF. The hole in the adaptor didn't line up quite right, creating a "step" right in front of the sensor wire. The resulting turbulence killed power and idle. We figured out what was going on when we ran the car without the air filter attached. Attached = lousy idle. Naked MAF = perfect idle. A bit of file work to clean out the air passage, and everything was great.

vacuum leak bro my old supra use to be at 10 on the vacuum gauge at idle
