i have a black classic with the most oxidized paint ever. my dad bought me a clay bar and spray which i tried and worked pretty well. it didnt get the "spray stains" out, they look like someone sprayed something on it. is there a kit i should buy to get a SHINY finish? also, what wax cleansers, polishers, and wax finishers work the best?

Well, the VW guys swear by the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, followed by a good coat of Carnuba wax. Using this combination on top of the clay bar has done wonders for my car (when I actually get around to using it:D)

On my black classic, I use Meguire's 3 step process: 1- cleaner wax, 2- polish(this is what removes oxidation and brings out a deep gloss shine), 3- Gold class wax.

I use a orbital buffer everytime I apply/remove the various things. My paint looks awesome and I have NO swirl marks. Various member who have seen my car can vouch that it looks pretty damn good. Good luck.

Zymol is pretty good, and lasts a while, but I prefer Gold Class. It is easier to apply and is the most reflective wax I have ever used (I used to detail for some professionals). I usually put 2 or 3 final coats of Medallion and/or Gold class.

For removing moderate oxidation, Duragloss PC works pretty good.

i tried the kit i had out (spray and bar from napa called TECnique) and it has some black residue on it. my brother said to go buy the meguires clay bar with step 1 and 2 of the meguires gold class and the gold class shampoo because we have step 3 allready. but my dad said just use the system he bought and it will work fine. which would i be better off with?

I've had pretty good luck with Meguiar's Paint Cleaner, followed up by their Gold Class Carnuba wax. The paint cleaner really gets the gunk out and removes the fine scratches. The wax just makes her purty.

Not bad for 151,000 miles and 9 years, huh? :D

i fully stand by meguiar's MIRROR GLAZE line. the regular line is just ok, but the mirror glaze cost twice as much but works fricking nice

the polish had my 93 paint shining bright...

until it rained the week after

Try Color Back by Turtle Wax. I just used it on my friends black 200SX SE. It was never waxed since '96 and was badly oxidized. The stuff worked wonders to bring the paint back to life. Now all he needs is a real engine……

zaino is pretty good cause there aren't as many steps. the meguires is what I use. #7 cleaner then a number 20 sealant then use gold class and finish off with the 34 final inspection to get the dust and wax dust off the car. beautiful.

I can say my car had to be the worst looking SE-R out there, hell it was in a flood, and the paint looked like crap really ruff to the touch. i used 3m rubbing compound and 3m hand glaze. it is shinny , but now i have tree sap issues.

I want to know where everybody is using "now-a-days" to remove oxidation. I'm going to get a paint job eventually, but it's not that important right now. I'll probably be going to advance auto parts to see what they have to offer.

Get a clay bar kit and they come with a small bottle of cleaner wax. Use the bar and the cleaner wax and it will look good.

^Cool. Can I pick that up at advance auto parts, or where should I look to purchase this?

any auto parts place. meguairs has a kit, mothers has a kit, blue magic has a kit, and now the turtle wax ice has a real clay bar as well.

also hit the car with a cleaner wax. they ususally contain scratch fillers that fill in the scratches over time.

i love meguiar's kit. you'll be hooked on the feeling of your paint after you clay bar it.
