Okay, quick question; didn't see it in the archives. Is the Avenir DET also a high-port head, or is it low-port like the SR20DE they also used?

its high port. all japanese engines were highport except roller-rocker and ve as i can think of. even the newer 96+ turbos are highport.

do the Avenir engine come with a T28?

I think I have a red top avenir and it's a t25, but I'm not sure of where is my engine from though.

No, the Avenir comes with a T25, but has the GTiR manifold. It might run more boost. I'll find out in October or so.

I just got my avenir!

who wants to see pictures?........:)

Lots of people, myself included. Also, I thought that the Av and 'R manifolds had different part numbers. I know that they look very similar, but I'm not aware of anyone actually putting a T28 on an Av manifold and saying, "It fits..."

I'll get better ones tomorrow.

BTW I need new gaskets for the exhaust manifold and the turbo......

Can anyone help me out?

The picture didn't work. What did you pay for ya Engine? what did it come with? Did it come with the harness?

For the gasket between head and manifold, take a 2000 sr20de gasket, it has fitted on my sr20det

So you are giving up on the 96 engine that you recently took apart? Sounds like a good solution (Mmmm, turbo...drool)

Eric rode in my car last weekend, Jason. Enough said.

I'm surprised it took him this long (4 days) to make that statement, though.

IIRC it cost me 2 grand and it came with the maf and ecu and wiring harness.

clarification

the aviner does NOT come with the gti-r manifold. It looks like it, but is different

I would assume it flows better than the BB manifold of the older days, but even the newer bb's that I get in have this gti-r clone manifold.

I even used one on my INCON BB37 turbo.

question: (I know I know) is the t28 ball bearing on the gti-r, I forgot.

hey jason, lemme get this straight, you used a bigger turbo on an avenir manifold? i need to know this because i am likely going to a larger turbo. what size was the incon (garretly speaking)?

Ya, if a GTBB37 fit on an Avenir-style manifold, wouldn't a T28 fit without hitting the block? I need to know, because I also am putting on a bigger turbo on my Avenir, and hopefully I won't need a new manifold.

Steve- what turbo are you thinking of going to?

I was talking about Calum's car. No boost for me right now. $$$$

No. The 'R has a journal bearing center. The S14/S15's respective T28s have BBs, though. The 'R flows better, especially when paired with the compressor housing from the S14/15 turbo, if you can get one. It's not like the 'R is a spool dog, either.
