: air leaking from Throttle Body??

Guys, I was taking some vacuum hoses and checking for leaks on my quest for my everlasting idle issue  Anyways, I discovered that a little bit of air leaks out of the TB (when the round metal plate is fully closed). So my question is, when the plate is fully closed, should it be completely air tight or is that my culprit?
Thanks guys,

When you say it is fully closed, are you talking about when it is running? At idle, without the intake tube connected to the throttle body, you will hear it kinda whistle. If it was truly closed you would not have any air for the motor to run.

I was checking it with the engine off. what I did was, after disconnecting all the intake stuff I pulled off the hose that runs to the back of the intake from near the throttle body and when i pumped some air through it (okay, I just blew on it with my mouth since i didnt have the tool  ) well when I did that I started getting a small amount of air leak out of the TB through the circular plate.

You are always going to get some air leaking out. If not, the car wouldn't run. If you want to, replace the TB gasket.

the best way to tell if you have intake leak is pinch the blow by hose that come from your PCV on the back of the valve cover on the pasanger side in front of the injectors.

if the engine speed rises then you have an air leak some were. if it stays the same your fine.

Thanks for the info guys, my gasket seems fine since there is no leak from that area ( its only leaking out from the plate that opens and closes) BTW, when the car is idling is this plate thing supposed to be fully sealed shut?
Im going outside to try what Nick suggested and see if I have any more leaks.

If the plate was all the way shut, the car wouldn't idle. Check all your vacuum lines to make sure.

okay I just tried this test and my rpm DROPS by a few hundred rpms when i pinch the hose coming from the pcv. does that mean I have a leak in the intake?
