Can anyone point me in the right direction? I am needing to replace my A/C compressor. A good friend of my family is a mechanic who I would trust with my life reccomended that I go ahead and replace the compressor clutch and the drier and they can also have problems caused by a compressor going bad. I've been searching sentra.net for the pas hour or so and am finding part numbers, etc. but no procedure for replacing these.
Am I not looking in the right place? Any thoughts or imput is welcome. I am trying to avoid paying a shop to do this. I'm told that if you can change an alternator you can do this. Thanks for the help!

Ok. Take of the a/c belt. Disconnect the a/c lines off the compressor. Then there are 3 or 4 bolts holding the compressor to the block. After that remove the compressor from the car. In the center of the compressor pulley, on the compressor there is a nut. remove that. Then carefully pry around the clutch to remove the clutch from the compressor. Be careful there should be shims on that center stud beneath the clutch. They look like washers but have different thicknesses. You may have 1 shim or 2 shims of different thickness etc. All compressors have different shim specs. Do you know that you need a clutch?
On compressors there is a gap spec for the clutch. (Use a feeler gauge). Over time the clutch can wear. Grease or dirt can cause wear. I worked on a Honda Accord that the compressor didn't work so I checked the gap and found it to be out of spec. I pulled the clutch off and it happened to have a fat shim and a skinny shim under it. I removed the skinny shim, cleaned up the clutch surface, put it back together and it worked great. I don't know the spec of the gap on the compressor clutch for your car but it is in the factory service manual.
When repairing or replacing a/c parts I would recommend replacing any o-rings that have to do with the parts you took apart. If you don't they WILL leak. Better safe than sorry.
Well I hope this helps. My fingers are getting sore. If you have any questions, I will try to help. You were at the Throttle Position Motorsports meet, right? I was there too.

Oh, ya. When replacing the o-rings use vaseline on the o-rings. Don't laugh. Seriously. You don't want to put them in dry. It helps them seal.

Yup that was me at TPM. Actually, all of this a/c work is so that I can get rid of the car you saw, if you saw mine. I'm trying to get an se-r.anyways thanks for the help.
Can anyone make me a copy of the specs for the compressor and drier? I dont have an FSM. I haven't bought one since I am trying to sell this car and Nissan was $120 for it, which I think is ridiculous. Are they the same for the GA16 and the SR20? I haven't seen one on ebay as of yet, so if anyone has one for sale let me know.
