: which car 240sx or 200sx
Natboy789 06-19-2002, 08:18 AM I am in the market for a new car, now I want a fast one but I also want a nice looking one. You guys will be proud I am thinking that I am comeing back to nissan. after a HONDA. I am trying to decide between a 240 sx (which I would attempt the sr20det swap) or a 200sx and I am not sure what this car has to offer. please help.
thanks
JayLew 06-19-2002, 11:44 AM Buy a 240, I wish I would have....
spdracerUT 06-19-2002, 01:09 PM I guess that depends on what you want and how fast you want to go. Ultimately, the 240 will be faster (turning and straightline). Plus it's RWD. But it's smaller on the inside (but who cares if you only carry one other person right?)

madmoney 06-25-2002, 07:32 PM i dont know about the 240sx being faster in a straight line. i read somewhere that a front wheel drive with the sr20 swap will get better traction off the line than a rearwheel swap.
muleman 06-25-2002, 09:21 PM hahahahah sorry dude no way will front wheel grab better than rear wheel and this is coming from a guy with a 97 200sx with det swap with a gt-28/t3 (about 350hp) A 240 rear end and tran's can handale upword of 450hp. I wish i bought a 240

I wish i bought a 240 Yeah. No kidding. My neighbor just ran a 13 flat in the 1/4 on Sunday with a T25. I really dont see to many 200sx's doing that. (atleast not w/o being stripped first)
SE-R-2-Go 07-08-2002, 10:28 PM I say 240. It might be cheaper (Depending on which year 240)and parts are much more accessible.
LONEWOLF 07-10-2002, 06:24 AM 240. the parts are much easyier to access considering that body style have been around since 1989 to 1998. that was a real popular car in japan. remember you want to go fast and get things fix fast when it breaks. go 240
RySE-R 1 07-10-2002, 01:31 PM Would the 240's require any motor mount fabrication to make them fit where the ka24de once was? Wouldn't they have had to change the mounts from the JDM version to make the different engine fit, or are they the same or similar?
Natboy789 07-10-2002, 01:57 PM Thanks guys,
Last weekend I drove to New York to pick up my 92 Nissan 240sx se, It had 76000 miles on it and it perfect condition, The price was a steal a $3800.
thanks
Fast240-T 07-10-2002, 02:47 PM The SR20det drops right in. The stock KA mounts fit the Sr's. The only hard part is the wiring. Just make sure you prep the motor first before you drop it in the car. It saves you alot of time a trouble.

LONEWOLF 07-10-2002, 03:56 PM I think you payed to much for the car next time go to
http://www.autotrader.com/ and you can find a 240 for less than 2500 in good condition the only thing that matters is the body right!!
Fast240-T 07-10-2002, 04:19 PM That is true. I personally think that you paid too much for it too. I wouldn't pay more than $1500 for a S13. You can find a none running one for $500-$1000 and that would be you best bet. You can buy just a shell too if you want, but then you would have to find some new sensors from the KA somewhere else. Good Luck!!

SE-R-2-Go 07-10-2002, 05:36 PM Is it really that bad of a deal? I've been lookin at 240's and the ones under 2000 are usually 89-90 with a bad motor or bad body and High mileage. This guy got a 92 w 70k. sounds pretty good if the body is nice too. However, since you are planning a DET swap I would have bought a cheaper one with Higher mileage. Say 2500 w/ a nice body. Hopefully you'll find someone who needs your KA and will pay decent for it since it's still low mileage.
Natboy789 07-10-2002, 10:35 PM This car is in mint condition. There is not a scratch on this car. interior perfect, engine perfect, everything perfect. but can someone tell me why this car has two mufflers. This car is going to be a long project. so I wanted a nice running one. because I am going to start collage in about 2 months. and that stuff is not cheap.
but thanks for all your help.

It has two mufflers, or just one muffler with dual tips?
As far as I know, all 240s have stock dual tips.
As far as WHY? *shrug*

Nissan240SX 07-12-2002, 08:02 PM Go with the 240SX i have the 91 240SX FastBack and would never look back unless a skyline came into the picture. You will love the response that the 240 can give you as well as speed. Good luck
