I just got a clutch installed (it's at my boy's house now). 2000 SE disc, ACT HD pressure plate, new throwout bearing and machines flywheel. It's all buttoned up but NOW the clutch won't shift into gear. The car starts but it won't go into gear while the car is one, only when the car has shut off.

We adjusted the cable, as tight as it would go (and nothing) and in the middle and STILL no good. It's too late over here to keep working and I have to be up at 5am for work, so we are leaving it for tomorrow. GImme input until then *** I'm SO screwed without my car. This is my daily driver.PLEASE HELP.

BTW, This was being installed into a 1991 SE-R. In case anyone needed to know.

Put some spacers between the big rubber thingy at the clutch cable bracket. Usually 1/8" or so helps, but you may have to put more in there. Alternatively, try putting a nut or something between the thumbscrew adjuster and the piece that connects to the lever. It seems like you're not getting enough throw.

we connected about a 1/4" spacer and STILL no good. I forgot to mention that last night.... the nut between the thumbscrew adjuster & the the connector is new to me though. AHH this SUCKS!

Hmm... 1/4 and no love, huh? Is the cable tight with no pedal (twangy) or still slack? Have you taken ALL the slack out at static?

SHIG, THANKS. I talked toa couple friends of mine and my boy and I actually went BACK IN and took the tranny out and redid things to make SURE we did things right. And we DID. THe flywheels wasn't cut right (they left about 1/16" in the center. PLUS the pressure plate I bought was 2nd hand with about 1K on it, and the middle wasn't worn enough, so that wasn't aiding things at ALL. But I talked to Mark SR20 & Eric (my 2 boys who helped a bunch) and it's all gravy now. I wanna SAY THANKS DAN. THis man did a clutch job with me in the friggin' RAIN (and I mean DOWNPOUR). Says alot about his character. Thanks to all.

the flywheel needs to be cut to factory spec, with the step, I cant remember the height, its really small. You can find the specs on the forum.
