Hey guys, recently I have noticed the oil light coming on when I first start the car. you can also hear the valves clicking loud at first, then they quiet down as the oil light turns off. Can it be that the oil pump is not working properly? It sounds like the engine is not running oil right away. I tried adding a oil additive but i am not too sure about that, i never had to use one before. I would welcome some input on this one. Thanx

That is normal on a lot of SR20 motors I have seen. It does that until the oil pressure builds up and gets circulated around the head.

try using a nissan oil filter and make sure your using a 5w30 decent oil.

It's normal for the oil light to come on when you first start the car. Loud rattling, isn't normal. My car has 199k, and doesn't rattle when I start it.

Stay away from addatives.

Take your oil cap off. Does it look all black and tarry in there? If so you have sludge. If you have sludge your pickup tube screen could be partially clogged.

If you have sludge, search for it on here and find the methods of cleaning it.

yeah i run castrol 5w30 all day everdya and my light would turn off before the car even started then three days ago i put the bmw sythenic castrol 10w30 cause my friend talked me into it and my light turns on.. but it has a lot more power, i don't know if it's cause of the new oil, or synthetic but i'm going to go back to regular 5-30 next paycheck.. i don't like that light
