so i've been searching the forum for a while now trying to find out why i'm having such problems with my clutch.
this is what i've done or have checked recently
new clutch - exedy with sprung disc (oem from nissan dealer)
fluid - lucas oil
cable - first was wrong oem cable and snapped it, then a 20$ one from local
import store better but something still wrong
throwout bearing - new
pilot bearing - new
brass reducer for clutch cable
fork looks to be fine
no true freeplay in the pedal
not sure if i missed anything or not, but what is happening is that i have to mash the pedal all the way to the floor in order to get it in pretty much every gear no matter what i do with the cable adjustment, this is making driving real damn agrivating. could it have possibly popped a spring in the disc because im at a loss and am gettin real annoyed with it if anyone has any ideas for me it'd be awesome thanks

Carpet in the way is the first likely hypothesis. You say no free play in the pedal; COULD be warped disk or busted spring in disk or finger on plate, COULD just need to be seated some. To eliminate the possibility, I'd bite the $ bullet and dial up Greg at G Spec and get him to send you a FACTORY cable. They'll still stretch over time with a stiff clutch (believe me, I know), but like a number of other pieces there just isn't much choice for us. Fortunately Greg is very good to us and does a nice job on factory parts prices compared to over the dealer counter.

carpet doesnt seem to be in the way of the pedal, and i'm startin to think it may not be the cable, but why would i not have any freeplay at all. would it be better to just go with the 1.6 cable or def go for oem sr20 cable

Check and make sure that the cable is still tight. I noticed that it was getting hard for me to get my car into any gear. At first I thought that my tranny Fluid level might be low. BUt I dont have any leaks and Im running royal purple so it shouldve been butter soft. I checked my cable and the damn thing had a nut that holds the "setting" you have it on come lose and the cable was slowly but surely making its self looser and looser so I would have to push the pedal in harder and farther.

did u get the clips for the throw out bearing new?
sounds like the same exact problem my friend is having but his clutch is long gone.

actually i didnt replace the clips for the tob didnt think that would really make a big difference, and does anyone think it could be a popped spring on the disc. My cable is pretty tight and im not sure how much tighter it should really go before i snap another one. how much freeplay should the pedal really have because mine has none almost like it wants to engage the clutch immediatly, but doesnt until the pedals mashed....thanks for the ideas guys

No one has asked yet, but what about your flywheel? Did you have it machined correctly? With the step in it? Some places might just machine it flat.
