Has anyone thought going side mount as oppose to frontmount intercooler. I have a friend with a tt supra and he said that the stock intercooler is good for 500hp?? My question is would a tt supra SMIC be sufficient enough for 250-300hp turbo setup on a NX2k. The intercooler itself is very thick, would there be any trouble side mounting it.

I have one of these intercoolers and trust me it seems no way to side mount it only thing I can think of right now is relocate the battery to the back and use it up front....where the battery is located...make a scoop on the hood or something something different thats for sure

If you're going to all the trouble of making a side-mount system, why not do front-mount? They each need the same number of holes in roughly the same places. Aside, I've seen a Supra with three cores welded end-to-end; they don't look very small to me.

I remember researching side mount IC's along time ago and talked to Mike K. about it too. Basically, I couldn't find anything that would fit well into the fender areas that would be cheap. My friend Julian does have a side mount, I think it's a Greddy designed for the Z. Anywayz, I think the Supra side mount is around 4" thick or something and Mike said they start losing efficency past 3" thick.

In short, you'd go through about the same amount of trouble to do a side mount when you could get a bigger front mount which will have more air directed to it and probably be more efficent.

I did look at the eclipse IC's too and their outlets aren't in good locations for mounting them in our cars.

The supra intercooler isn't real small its quite thick actually, I just looked under my NX and it looks as if there isn't enough room anyway. Side mounting an intercooler is just a thought I am looking for alternatives I want to have an efficient intercooler setup for my car, thats all. I want to front mount but I need to find an intercooler that can support up to 300whp other than an expensive unit.
