Gunma420 07-21-2007, 05:23 PM It's on the seatbelts...
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallsearch.cfm
There might be more for other B13's and B14's but this is the one that caught my eye...

Gunma420 07-21-2007, 05:40 PM So if you have seatbelt problems like I did the dealership will replace them for free.:biggthump
Dudeman258 07-21-2007, 06:14 PM Yea agreed, what is it? I think it is auto zone or pep boys, has a feature for when you register on there site, they have a full listing of all recalls for the car. We have quite a few. These are still available to get things replaced??
Dudeman
Gunma420 07-21-2007, 06:25 PM the recall is:
Make : NISSAN Model : SENTRA Year : 1991
Manufacturer : NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 91V022000 Mfr's Report Date : FEB 07, 1991
Component: SEAT BELTS
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 165000
Summary:
IMPROPER BELT GUIDE PERFORMANCE CAN CAUSE FRAYING OF THE SHOULDER SAFETY BELTS NEAR THE RETRACTOR.
Consequence:
THE FRAYING OF THE SHOULDER SAFETY BELT WEBBING CAN CAUSEIMPROPER RETRACTION OF THE BELT, WHICH WOULD LEAD TO INADEQUATE PROTECTION OFSEAT OCCUPANT DURING A SUDDEN STOP OR ACCIDENT, AND COULD RESULT IN INCREASEDRISK OF INJURY.
Remedy:
MODIFY THE SAFETY BELT GUIDES TO PREVENT FRAYING; AND OR REPLACE RETRACTOR ASSEMBLY IF FRAYING IS PRESENT.

Make : NISSAN Model : SENTRA Year : 1991
Manufacturer : NISSAN NORTH AMERICA, INC.
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number : 95V103002 Mfr's Report Date : MAY 12, 1995
Component: SEAT BELTS:FRONT:BUCKLE ASSEMBLY
Potential Number Of Units Affected : 2730462
Summary:
THE FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLE RELEASE BUTTONS CAN BREAK. THESE RED PLASTIC RELEASE BUTTONS ARE MARKED "PRESS." IF A BUTTON BREAKS, PIECES CAN FALL INTO THE BUCKLE ASSEMBLY CAUSING THE BUCKLE TO OPERATE IMPROPERLY.
Consequence:
THE SAFETY BELTS WOULD NOT PROVIDE ADEQUATE PROTECTION TO AN OCCUPANT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
Remedy:
OWNERS SHOULD PROMPTLY CHECK THE CONDITION AND OPERATION OF BOTH FRONT SAFETY BELT BUCKLES AND CAREFULLY INSPECT THE RED RELEASE BUTTON FOR ANY BREAKS OR CRACKS. THEY SHOULD ENSURE THAT BOTH BUCKLES ARE OPERATING PROPERLY BY INSERTING EACH LATCH PLATE INTO ITS BUCKLE, TUGGING ON THE BELT TO MAKE SURE THE LATCH IS SECURELY LOCKED, AND THEN PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON. THE LATCH PLATE SHOULD POP OUT OF THE BUCKLE WHEN THE BUTTON IS PRESSED. IF EITHER RELEASE BUTTON SHOWS A SIGN OF BREAKING OR CRACKING OR IF EITHER BUCKLE FAILS TO OPERATE PROPERLY, OWNERS SHOULD PROMPTLY CONTACT THEIR AUTHORIZED DEALER TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE BUCKLE REPLACED OR REPAIRED FREE OF CHARGE.
Notes:
SYSTEM: INTERIOR; SEAT BELTS; BELT BUCKLES. VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER, MULTI-PURPOSE VEHICLES AND LIGHT DUTY TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH SAFETY BELTS MADE BY TAKATA CORPORATION. NOTE: IF YOUR VEHICLE IS PRESENTED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPONSERVICE DATE AND THE REMEDY IS NOT PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME, PLEASE CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261. ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONALHIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-800-424-9393.
So basically the plastic around the seatbelt breaks and falls into the latch making it inoperatable
Dudeman258 07-21-2007, 07:06 PM My buckles are both breaking. The passenger one hardly clicks in anymore. It is embarrassing when new people ride in my car . So you know this can be replaced if I show up and make an apointment? I realize I have to ask, but just wondering if I will get a blank stare if i say "hey I have a 91 sentra with a different motor and suspension, can you replace my seatbelt buckles?"
Thanks
Dudeman
eggman 07-21-2007, 07:16 PM I went to the dealership to get a buckle/latch for my first nx(5-6 years ago) and they replaced both my entire seatbelts and latches for free.
Gunma420 07-21-2007, 07:21 PM yes any b13, both will be replaced for free!!!! This webiste is great for other vehicles you might have...
seat belts are a huge safety item. if they dont replace them for free, since there is documentationof a recall, there could easily be a law suit against nissan and im sure they know that. so they will be more than happy to replace them.
hhmmmm............that could be a free skyline. settled out of court :deal:
pedronx2k 07-21-2007, 10:55 PM ther was a recall in the rear seatbelt on nx's as well.got mine done for free at the dealership...

skcusloa 07-22-2007, 02:49 PM Nissan seatbelts are gauranteed for life.
pedronx2k 07-22-2007, 04:02 PM *** i went to the dealer, woodfield nissan, and said that sometime both the driver and pass side buckels come undone while driving and i wanted them to fix them with the buckels that were recalled(rear nx buckles)........they wanted 249+tax for installing them!!!!!!!they should be free i told them ... BOGUS
Jaketips42 07-22-2007, 05:01 PM Most, if not, all car manufacturers have a lifetime warranty on seat belts IIRC. I think it's partial federal regulation.

You should tell them to look up the recall and if they don't want to get sued then they need to take care of it.:deal:
SE-R_TECH 07-23-2007, 01:38 AM Nissan seatbelts are gauranteed for life.
Only if they are still available. I tried to get new belts for my S12 but the are on back order. which means no more. Same with my B12. And I belive its 04MY and up its only 10 years

Does this mean a sign of this problem is a seat belt that does retract after unbuckling it? I didn't know it was such a serious problem and haven't seen any fraying. Looks like I need to make an appointment.
Thanks for posting this info.
Gunma420 07-26-2007, 07:07 AM yeah, if it doesn't retract then it does not work properly. np figured everyone with a B13 should know about this
