PSSSHHHGOESMYSR20 06-24-2002, 09:00 AM A lot of V8 guys refuse to race me now. I believe they are discouraged by the large front mount. But who knows. Have fun boosting, I had a smile on my face everytime I got on it, till I brok third :(

yeah, you have nothin to lose by racing them. they hate losing to "4 bangers" and i wouldnt want to lose either if i had nearly 3 times the engine size!
i broke third "outaccelerating down an onramp" on a 2002 firechicken ws6. pulled about 2 on him by top of 2nd, shifted into third and it popped right back out, and the garbage disposal noises ensued. they got their revenge i guess.
Victorious 06-24-2002, 04:17 PM D*#@ Steve, I'm sorry to hear that.:( Hope you get it fixed soon, now you have an xcuse to shotpeen and cryo your gears, and weld the case;)
PSSSHHHGOESMYSR20 06-25-2002, 01:14 AM I still haven't figured out what I'm gonna do about my broken third. I'm open for Ideas.

ya, I got mine too, I hate it. it fits like crap. (fiber images) does yours fit ok or did you have to do alot of playing with it???
TurboJesus 06-27-2002, 02:13 AM Man I been looking everyones engine bay... everyones turbo setup looks so clean. Can someone make my turbo engine bay look clean?

Same with mine... fitment on mine sucked... had to lower my hood latch and file away some of the metal on the hood latch to get it to unlatch correctly. I've had it for a year and its starting to lose its shine... getting funky milky white spots everywhere :(
Victorious 06-27-2002, 08:02 AM Wow, I may have to rethink my decision on getting a fiber images hood. :( I thought their hood was one of the best cf hood available. Maybe I'll just get the predator hood from Aerogear. I don't want my engine bay to get too hot from my turbo.:D
Rockwood 06-27-2002, 03:50 PM tranny is already fixed.
cryo and shotpeen this time with phantom grip to bolster the stock VLSD.
jon3k 06-27-2002, 04:11 PM What do you think of the phantom grip so far?

You put a VLSD trans on your 98? Sneaky... How difficult was the phantom grip install?
Rockwood 06-27-2002, 05:07 PM yeah, i have had the VLSD tranny for about 1 year now.
phantom grip is great. too bad the clutch has been slipping very badly until recently. but i have noticed that the car is much more neutral, especially on the throttle. full boost used to be scary when i was cornering, now it is very controlled and linear.
install is very simple. remove the diff from the case, remove the VLSD housing from the diff. remove dowel pin. insert phantom grip between the spider teeth. reinsert dowel pin. reinstall VLSD housing. reinstall diff in case.

greeeeaaaaaaaattt, something for me to look forward too since I live in a little bit hotter climate than you......... ya, I have not tried to adjust the latch on it yet though....
