: Idiot Rice Boy
HeavyD69 06-22-2002, 09:26 PM K, I know this kid and his mommy is buying him a wrx, and he is sitting here talking out of his ass that a wrx could waste any car on teh streets, now i know the wrx is a good car, but i need someone to back me up on the fact that its not invincilbe and a 240sx could easily stand a chance againts it. This kid is so fucking stupid after 2 hours of trying to tell him the difference between FWD, RWD, AWS, AWD, 4WD he still didnt know what the fuck either term meant, please help me out ehre guys, thanks.
HeavyD69 06-22-2002, 10:06 PM ^^BUMP^^
he is a lost cause if he cant learn what the different between rwd and fwd in 5 min he's.. well... "challenged"
drop the guy and pick on the next rice boy. :D
Stiletto 06-22-2002, 10:59 PM are we talkin' a stock 240? a wrx will prolly own a 240 if it's stock. and this is just my $.02, but try not to say f*ck so much it's a little harsh. :)

Assuming the 240SX is pretty much stock, the WRX would rip it's head of and sh*t down it's neck. Even with that said, he still sounds like he needs to learn a lot more about cars before he starts talking smack.
Cjburn 06-23-2002, 12:16 AM If you hate the kid alot teach him to launch his WRX by revving it up to 7K and dumping the clutch. J/K...lol
SchmottySE-99 06-23-2002, 02:34 AM personally, I like the wrx, but I wouldn't trade a Nissan for one. a GTiR would be about the same, wouldn't it?

Maybe in 1991. But even then it was challanged. It was a start of something that would have made a great car today but due to it's poor first year results in what is now known as the WRC, the rallye program and then the car line was subsequently given up.

well that's crap. Nissan has so many great engines that they do nothing with. and then we have to go and import them over here. :D
ihateloops 06-23-2002, 03:51 AM i hate this stupid importing crap. next year one of my friends might be going to japan, andi think ill probably just have him pick up an avenir engine for me and mail it back.
tissue 06-23-2002, 07:28 AM down here (australia), WRXs are like ***holes, everyones got one. I know a GTiR is a very capable WRX killer, cause they are much quicker in a straight line. I think WRXs do 0-60 in 6ish and 14.xx quarter miles, whereas the GTiR does 0-60 in around 5.5 and 13.xx quarters.
Throw in some twistys, and the WRX should eat the GTiR. The GTiR doesnt handle as superb as the WRX, hence why it was not rallyed for very long.
As for a 240sx vs a WRX... unless the WRX was auto, and the 240sx was heavily modded, it stands not much of a chance. Im not saying its impossible though.
DubuRX 06-23-2002, 10:52 PM Maybe you should show him the post in the off topic forum about "If you own a Subaru, you could be considered Gay"
Toolapcfan 06-24-2002, 12:46 AM I've liked the WRX for a long time now, but I'm thinking STI modded and better yet a 22B. But for what they cost, I'd rather spend half that on a classic and have a beast. Now as for that 22B though, if I understand correctly, that thing might give a coveted skyline a run for it's money. Probably not though. :) A few nights back when I was getting home late, I saw some retread in a Hatchback Si try to start shit with a guy in a WRX so I sat back and grinned while I watched the civic get toasted. I'll take a WRX over any honda product any day of the week. But I'm willing to bet that most of our fellow DET recipients can hold their own against one.
WhiteSER 06-24-2002, 01:18 AM Wow.. This was a well needed thread. I bet you arent a day older than 14, are you?
HeavyD69 06-24-2002, 05:40 AM huh? Dude im 19 and seriously into cars, not just imports, this kid i know is claiming that the wrx can "waste anything" hes worse than a civic owner, i just wanted some evidence from someone other than me that he is talking out of his ass and is wrong
Xsanity 06-24-2002, 07:50 AM should be in off topic....
Toolapcfan 06-24-2002, 04:57 PM Waa! Give him a break already  Anyways, I'd think that a DET swapped SE-R could prove to be a contender against the WRX. A classic weighs about 500 lbs. less, has a slightly shorter wheel base and with an unmodded Avenir swap would have comparable HP. The same 227HP IIRC but I'm not sure what the torque on the Avenir would be but it's 217 on the WRX. And 500 lbs would make a lot of difference. Plus the WHP of the WRX would not be as impressive since it's spread out over 4 drive wheels. Somewhat off topic and somewhat related, I was driving College World Series program cars back to the dealership today and I was surprised at how much better handling and how powerful and Olds Intrigue felt compared to the Aurora. About 500 lbs. difference in the Intrigue's favor and a .5 litre engine size difference in the Aurora's favor. I thought the Intrigue had tighter handling and better throttle response than the Aurora. So what I'm getting at is that comparing a DET swapped SE-R with a WRX would possibly be a closer comparison, despite the horizontally opposed nature of the WRX engine. Hopefully some day I'll have a DET swapped SE-R and when I do, I'll have to test drive a WRX and see for myself.
LONEWOLF 06-25-2002, 09:22 AM THIS kid is foolish how much he is spending on the car $30,000 you put half of that on a ser or 240 you will rape him.
you can go fast as you want
but when it come to dollars and cents. the sr20det is the best!!
Namelessone1982 06-25-2002, 08:33 PM The only way a 240 could waste the wrx is if it is completly moded other wise it wouldnt stand a chance
Chris93SER 06-26-2002, 01:22 AM To add to this OT thread:
I'm looking at buying a WRX currently. It is between a WRX or an RSX Type S. For 25 grand you really can't beat a 2.0L AWD Turbo car, especially one that has run a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds (C&D). Of course, after the options I'd choose to put in it, including a STi exhaust from the factory, a short shifter from the factory, bigger wheels from the factory, and a spoiler, I'm looking at 28 grand. With the entire body kit, spoiler, and sportier wheels (all from the factory) on the RSX-S, I'm looking at 27 grand. I know someone who can get me a good deal on an Acura, so I could definitely knock a good amount off that price though.
I'll be purchasing one of those two cars at the end of this year or early next year. I've driven a Type S twice, and really liked it. I'm going to test drive a WRX very soon.
