After 12 hours of sweat and grunting, along with 30 cans of pop and water to shed off the 90+ degree heat, the motor finally went in and ran!
Some highlights--upon pulling the motor out, it was determined there were in fact two holes in the block--one in the front and one in the rear near the starter---see photos.
Once the new engine was back in we had some running issues that resulted in a complete reworking of the vaccum lines---good thing Ben's car was there as a model! They also swapped out the coil, and the fuel rail from Nick's old car onto the new engine. The engine was still stumbling and detonating heavily. The timing was checked and so too were all of the sensors. As Nick was growing disappointed and Ben was suggesting a check of the fuel pressure and compression, someone suggested we check the MAF for proper voltage. After a few tests, it was determined that it wasn't properly gounded. Nick quickly grounded the wire, Jason fired the car and it smoothed out to a nice idle---as long as you didn't mind the leaking PS header:)
It was a long, fun and extremely hot Sat. But in the end a new engine was transplanted and Nick is now able to continue enjoying his baby.

P.S. Hey Nick--don't forget to order and send that TO bearing to Ben's house on Monday. Not sure if it matters, but mine is a 93' SE-R.
