I own an 91 240sx SE, and i go to a site at www.zilvia.net, its very informative, there is also freshalloy.com, and 240sx.org, both have info on 240sx's too. U can do a little digging around at those sites and find some info.

hope that helps a lil

heres a lil more info, the basics

89-90 was SOHC KA24E
Horsepower: 140hp @ 5600 rpm
Torque: 152ft-lbs. @ 4400 rpm

have to remember though, thats at the motor, drivetrain loss has to be considered with those numbers and RWD incorporates a larger loss than FWD, so u can maybe use a number of 125 at the wheels i believe.

SE-RSeeker39=homewrecker! Haha, jk....he has my old baby, my beloved 240sx. Well, its his baby now.....

The 89 240sx was the first year it was offered in the states. It had the KA24E motor, which was a 12 valve SOHC unit making 140 HP and 152lb/ft of torque as previously mentioned.

The only thing that changed on the car starting with the 1991 model is the motor (which went to DOHC 16 valve sporting 155hp and 160lb/ft of torque) and new nose, and some different seats. It also had nice shiny polished aluminum wheels, and was made available with the Super HICAS system which included all wheel steering from 45-60mph and a rear LSD. And if it had that, it must also have the ABS system and 205-60-15 tires.

Unless you are doing a swap, go for '91 and later...otherwise either chassis is excellent for an SR20DET swap. The chassis code (S13) is an excellent handler....with the super hicas system it pulled a .86 on the skidpad...equalling the grip of the 300ZX TT of that same period.

Refer more to the sites that Adam mention: 240sx.org and zilvia.net. good luck!

I think you should get a 91-93 whether or not you want to do a swap. The 91+ DOHC KA engine starts out with 15hp more than the SOHC. If you do a SR20DET swap it will be easier on the 91-93 models. The swap into a 89-90 is certainly doable but you have to deal with a few things on the SOHC.

1. power steering hoses and reservior is on the wrong side so you have to either get the DOHC or the SR hardware.

2. KA a/c compressor won't work

3. factory tachometer won't work
