Are the JDM BlueBird ecu's programmed to run on higher octane gas? I haven't seen any info on this subject.

Nope, Japan uses 100+ Octane there...

It will work fine on 91 octane though. On a stock Bluebird. I was surprised.

id just run as high octane as possible and maybe lower the timing just a bit

Ok, who has run a BB ecu on their car? Was it at stock boost or higher? Keep in mind I'm talking about a 92 classic.

I witnessed a 91 Classic with stock ECU and stock SE-R MAF run and the timing was set to 15 degrees BTDC, I know because I set it and it was also boosting 9psi and runs and idle's fine. I also seen a 91 Classic with BB ECU run a BB SR20DET and it runs fine just a little rich I was told. Non of these 2 examples even had a SAFC, I could just imagine how much better they would be.

I have a BB ecu on my car with a T3TO4E Tial 35mm regulating boost at .65 bar. It ran beautiful, no problems.
