: What do you guys think? Turbo Gurus?

I've heard some good and bad about my T3/T04E turbo's specs... What can you gurus tell me about it. I don't know how to read compressor maps so I can't realy predict anything. It will be installed soon.. Here's the specs...

.63 A/R Exhaust Housing (T3) Stage III wheel (Garrett 4 bolt)
.60 A/R compressor housing (T04E) with 60 trim wheel

I've gotten mixed reviews from some people. Just wondering what you guys think.. Oh.. and I will be switching to the 444cc injectors and GTI-R maf with 3 bar for now. This is on the Revhard manifold and 3" DP/ exhaust. What kind of Spool, HP numbers, and reversion pressure? This is also with S3's and a ported head. 8.5:1 compression...

I'm no guru, but I believe it to be a good turbo, with the .63 A/R it should spool quickly and with the .60 Comp and 60 trim you should make a decent amount of power with some good top end. I don't know numbers, because after all evertime someone says a turbo will make a certain number they are always proven wrong when it makes more. ;)

It'll probably be just fine. The only thing that could have been done a little different is the compressor trim. I'm no guru, but the 60-trim comp wheel is on the big side for that turbine. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. Get it running and see how it feels. I've got a 'mismatched' turbo on my car that i assumed would suck, but has proven to be very smooth and fun. good luck

I think you should slap the bitch on... Let me come down for a weekend... and we'll go the races while our ladies talk about us hunks... :D

If you want I can pass this information on to Kojima for you and find out what he says about this combo... but I'll need more info than what you provided... ie. injectors, blah blah...

eerrr nevermind about the needed info... paperwork sucks, words look the same when you're sitting in front of a computer all day doing follow-up reports about jackasses... Excuse my brain farts...

As Andris said, the compressor flows way too much for the amount of turbine flow that you have. You would be better off with a 50 trim compressor wheel.

However, I have see way more monkey shit than that. Your setup isn't ideal, but it should work fine. Maybe your turbo will spool a little more slowly than others, and maybe it won't make quite the power, but it should be OK.

Anyone know where i can get compressor maps for the HKS GT series turbos? Are they all T03/T04e? Those are the ones I'm interested in. Sorry, i don't know much about their product line.

jon3k: Check your Private Messages. I don't think this fork is particularly relevant to the discussion at hand.

So maybe a 57 trim wheel in the 50 A/R housing would be more optimal? Yeah.... I saw a setup with a Stage I wheel in a 63 A/R housing with a 50 A/R compressor and 57 trim wheel! Talk about choke on intself!

Yeah... I got this one from Louis as well.. I still haven't put mine on either. What manifold are you planning on using? I have the revhard manifold. I am still deciding on what to use for a downpipe.. I will probably just make my own..

i just ordered a protech manifold from bruce, it should be in sometime soon, as for a downpipe, i was just going to use some 3 inch piping that i'll be ordering for my exhaust and have my dad machine a flange.

Trav, i thought you were going with a Q45 MAF sensor?

I was until I found out that Andreas had a GTI-R one.

so the gti-r one flows better i'm assuming. does the ecu need a new program then?

Not "better," but "adequately." The Q45 sensor is MASSIVE. The GTi-R sensor is bigger than a lot of other sensors, and possibly cheaper, if somebody just has one "lying around..."
