I am changing my oil today, I have done it 5 or so times before. I took the old filter off, etc. etc. then when I put the new one on I got it hand tight like I always do (never had a problem with it). started her up and everthing was fine. Gave it another twist before I took it for a little spin. Then it came off while I was driving! I let the car roll back downhill (engine off) to my house, tried to tighten the filter but it would never get tight. I took it back to Nissan to get another filter. Brought it back started putting it on, it started to get tight then it just got loose. What is going on here??? There are no signs of metal shavings, and the threads look good on both the bolt and the filters. What could be the problem?

This happened to me a couple weeks ago on my aunts G20 after I changed her oil. Someone else on the forum even blew their motor *** Nissan gave them the wrong filter...i think they got a JDM motor out of it. Check to make sure you got the right SR20 filter if you got it from Nissan. It should list the years and models on the box.
The SR20's after 98 I believe use standard threads instead of metric. You won't find any shavings, the damn filter just spins right off.
