Does anyone have the HKS racing bypass valve? I can get one for about $170. Should I get it, or should I just get a 1gen dsm bypass valve?

FMAX Kits come with the Standard HKS Bypass Valve. They work great!

Don't you have a stock by-pass valve with your DET? unless you're building your own sr20de + turbo?

I building my own GTIR kit. I only plan on running 12psi at most? I can get a BB "BOV" for $60, a bosch "bov" for $45, a 1st gen dsm "BOV" for $90, a HKS racing "bov" for $170, and a Turbo XS "bov" for $150. I plan on making about 280 HP. Which one do you guys recommend?

You can get the DSM 1st gen BOV which is the one you want for about 40 used from Roadrace or www.dejontool.com They also sell Crushed BOVs that are capable of running upwards of 20 pounds no leaks. If you are only going to run 12 PSI and if you wan to stay stealthy I would Highly recommend the 1st Gen DSM BOV.

I take it you mean quiet, when you say the dsm bov is "stealthy".

I'd rather have the brass Bosch part, since it seems that it was designed for the kinds of boost levels at hand. How much boost was the DSM specced for, anyway?

A 1G DSM "bov" can handle up to 18 psi. And when "crushed" it can handle over 20psi IIRC.

Okay, but the Bosch brass valve pops like a stuck balloon at ~14 PSI, and with practically no leakage, no reliability issues, and no modifications. Sounds like a winner to me. That's just my opinion, though.

What do you mean by it pops? And where can I get one? OH and are you referring to the Bosch #0280142108?

I meant to say that they have very quick, very precise actuation points. They release fully when the release, but barely bleed at all, compared to other OEM CBV parts (though not necessarily the DSM part). Yes, I mean the '108, which can be had at any Porsche, Audi, or retail parts counter. I linked to a Supra MK-IV site a few days ago that outlined several sources... I can't seem to find that page again, though...

PS - That picture is rediculously large.

Yes It is pretty quiet, and works exceptionally well. Often people choose the DSM 1st gen Valve over the more saught after Greddy type S, not because it's cheaper, but because it is reliable.

I K-N-O-W-W-W-W :D
I just wanted everyone to know what I planned on doing to my car;)

I have a number from that all-trac site. It's some place in NJ that sells it for like $40.
