Just wanted a place where I could say... "Thank You".

Story: I had pm'd and emailed Jonathon to ask him a favor... would he please test drive my '91 SE-R? Basically, I picked him because of his experience, past generosity, and a good sense of humor.... plus, he lives in Tampa, too.

I've never owned a classic before, so, I had no idea of the baseline performance(other than the hard data). What I mean is "is my car alright, sound okay, shift okay, yada yada". After he got off from work(he works late) he test drove it for me. Time has got to be important to him. He's got 4 kids at home... I have one, with twins on the way, so I have an idea about the extra effort he put out for me. Basically, my car's good... rides well, shifts well, and no wierd noises. He liked my car!

Then, we got into his.... chirped the tires through 3rd gear. Impressive performance.... now I know why people get excited about horsepower in this car. He even let me drive it back... short shifter, did not chirp the tires, very nice clutch. Hell, I was so amazed with his car, I forgot to put the seatbelt on(I haven't "forgotten" to do that in over 20 years).

Anyway, he made the time for me.... didn't have to. Genuine stand up guy, truly Righteous.

i wish i could chirp 3rd. i don't know why i can't, but i just can't. my car has a brand new darn clutch and it has 145lbs/ft of torque going through the flywheel! why, darnit, why!?

its all in the clutch...... my ebay special will sometimes chirp 3rd, but an OEM one i think will have more trouble..... if you want 3rd to chirp, get an ACT:D

Yeah Jon is a cool MOFO!!! I went up to the Tampa dyno day and he let me and another Forum member crash at his house. Him and his wife even made us dinner and breakfast the following morning!! Very cool peeps!!!!

Like said before get a ACT if you want easy 3rd gear chirps!!!:D

I have an ACT and easily turn 2nd but third is lacking, you have to be puttin down some HP to do that. My car isn't exactly stock but i don't have cams or ecu yet and I can't chirp 3rd, or maybe I haven't really gone after it? I think it is time for a quick cruise around town!

I am that other forum member :D Jon is awesome, and his car is putting down some powah...LONG LIVE PACESETTER!!

I also can chirp 3rd with my JWT pp, and stock disc, and this is with 50k hard miles on it.

I can't even chirp 2nd, I take that as a sign my clutch is dead

Dead is when a redline shift from 1st to 2nd results in the tach taking it's sweet time to meet up with the wheel speed. My 100% stock clutch will chirp 2nd but only with my D60 A2 tires. Not the Falkens.

A 91 with 55,000 miles on it and perfect condition!!! I am so jealous!!! I wouldnt even want to mod it since the condition is so GREAT!! You definitely have a GEM!!! But, hey, Im glad I was able to put a big smile on your face with my crazy HP. :cool:

well my oem has like 3000-4000 miles on it now. i broke it in for the first 1000 miles (only tried to chirp once, and had no problem). that was really hard. i don't really care that i don't chirp third, but serious bragging rights come with a person who can chirp third around here in an import. :)

ACT clutch makes it easy to chirp third. My hybrid SE was only running 15.1s but could chirp third all day.

The first time I did that was at the track and a SI guys said so what I can chirp 4th!(this was after I beat him 15.1X to a 15.6X) I said wow you canchirp one tire going into 4th, try doing that with a LSD on your car.
