After months of research my friend and I completed the turbo project. Took us 17 hours sat and sunday to do it as his shop. Right now I'm boosting .8 bar limited by the tial wastegate.

Boost is great !! When th tial dumps (open wastegate) the bugger takes off. It's a good thing. :D

Thanks in great part to this forum for answering my questions and helping set me in the right direction to finally completed this, after about 8 months of research.

Short list: F-max manifold,downpipe ceramic coated , Turbo is t3 stage 3 turbine/t04B super V compressor. msd 50lb/4bar /97 SE-R
(per recommendation of Andreas Miko) Long list when I post pictures in the members section.

Oil pressure is ~ 55 psi / EGT from 4th cylinder, where EGR used to be, reads about 850*F at cruising speeds.

After some hard driving today I've developed dripping radiator fluid from somewhere in the cooling system, It's dripping on the downpipe and I suspect it's from the water hoses in back of the intake manfold.

Otherwise all is well.

Congrats! on the install. And good luck w/ the coolant leak!
BTW: what type of EGT guage do you have?

Congrats!!!

I try to pass emissions today AGAIN!!! No EGR so I keep failing NOX.

Thought was I was failing because of a big 3" cat rather far back in the exhaust system. Basically it probably wasn't getting hot enough. Last night we welded in a second smaller cat much closer to the manifold. Nothing like a 3" exhaust plugged with dual cats!!!

Hi Art, Congrats on your turbo power!!!! It sounds like you have the BB DET. Well if so those coolant lines on the back of the engine go to the oil cooler to help cool the oil, and those coolant lines are only on the DET, the DE engine did not come with coolant lines for a oil cooler, you will have to custom make the coolant lines to replace them. Here is the very bad news, let me tell ya those lines are a major bitch to get to, you can barely get to them from the bottom of the car, and the only way to get to them from the top is to take off the intake manifold, I tried to do this myself and gave up and took it to a nissan tech( a friend of mine) and he fixed it for about $120.......better him then me......LOL.

Good luck

I'm pretty sure Art has the stock USDM DE in there.

Ryan is correct, I have the 9.5:1 USDM engine. I hope to have the coolant leak fixed by this weekend to take it out cruising.

I'm sure you already know this, but did you try retarding the timing and throwing in about 3 bottles of dry gas in there. Also use the highest grade gas you can find, I believe Sunoco with 94.
I passed emissions right before I had to, so I'm free for the next 2 years 6 months. Good luck with trying to pass in our screwed up system.

What kind of setup are you running porboy44?

BTW: what type of EGT guage do you have?

it's an autometer pyrometer motion is from 0-1600 *F.

Congradulations! Are you coming down for the NYC meet? I would like to see your set up. We could compare;) (along with the other dozen turbo se-r's that are showing up)

Woooo Hooooo

Passed emissions with the dual cat system!

I had already tried retarding the timing, it wasn't enough.
The dry gas doesn't help NOX either.

I'm running a T3/T4 on a GTI-R manifold.
300WHP and 250lbs at ~15lbs

Hi porboy44, congrats!!!!! on passing smog, I aways thought that cars with dual cats would pass smog.

Did you just weld a T3 flange onto the GTi-r manifold?

Well, someone that knows how to weld did it but yes that's what I did.
