: 1/8 track times
ser_lover 06-26-2002, 06:46 PM I am wondering what most of guys get in the 1/8 with your 200sx se-r. I got a 10.666 with a .666 reaction time for the first time last week. I feel like I have a very slow se-r. I am going to do a compression test and if I have a week motor I am going to swap a det (if I can get the casho) or just do a jdm sr20de like tomas did. Please post if you have ran this. Thanks aaron
Mike sr20de 06-27-2002, 10:13 AM what was your 60 ft time? it seems like you should be a little faster than that. I have seen guys with intake and pullies go 10.1, 9.9....60ft time makes a difference.
ser_lover 06-27-2002, 11:58 PM I will check on my slips if I can find them. With all the mods and a little bad reaction time I would think that I shouldnt be running that slow. I am going to do a compresion test. Do you know what I should have in each cylinder?
PlanoSER 06-29-2002, 05:13 PM the best 1/8th mile time in my 95 200SX SE-R was a 9.45 on street tires.
Mods: cone filter/paceheader/CN exhaust/91 intake cam/19* timing/suspension/clutch
llaprad1 06-29-2002, 11:02 PM BTW, reaction times have no effect on ET.
Your ET starts when you trip the first light.
Your 60ft time is a better indicator of traction problems and where you can improve.
ser_lover 06-30-2002, 12:33 AM Man I lost those slips....plano that time makes me sick :) About the reaction......my tires are almost bald.....hmmm......i dont think my take off was that bad cause I raced a turbo si and I kept up with him til I hit second and then I felt ashamed after he ran a 9.6
Anybody know what compression I should have in each cylinder?
Its311Pete 06-30-2002, 12:58 AM turbo si and I kept up with him til I hit second and then I felt ashamed after he ran a 9.6
HE should feel ashamed 9.6 in a 1/8 with a turbo.....blahahaha
If you can find out your 60 ft. times that would probably tell the story. I bet they are around 2.3
llaprad1 06-30-2002, 05:18 AM My best uncorrected times was 9.7something. Do a search for my threads and you'll see. Work less on you reaction time and more on your launch.
If a .5 is perfect, .666 isn't bad at all. (unless your religious ;) )
Seriously, get your 60ft times to less than 2.4sec's and we'll talk about your engine being underpowered.
I believe compression should be normally around 150-160 per cylinder
PlanoSer, thats a killer 1/8 time!
As far as the SI turbo running 9.6... that *should* be embarrassing!! A Celica GTS I was running against ran a 10.4! (IIRC)
PlanoSER 06-30-2002, 12:41 PM people tell me I had a strong car but I dunno.. I think its in the driving b/c my trapspeeds werent anything special. 2.1-2.2 60fts on street tires will bring ur ETs down pretty well ;)
BTW: I did a compression check on my car right before I sold it.. It was 175-180 across all 4 cylinders.
Dswtflip4u 06-30-2002, 12:49 PM man you guys should grab the sportcompact car magazine I think. It is an SCC article. They have a sentra and stripped it down to see what differences would it make to the ET on a 1/4 mile if they start taking parts off. They ended up running a 14.3 i think with everything stripped off as in everything. (roof , trunk, etc.) it is funny but man you can tell the differences.
Bryan
ser_lover 06-30-2002, 05:18 PM yeah I remember reading that in wal-mart for a sec. With nothing striped it ran like a 16 something. I cant remember if it was a sentra or not.
I am going to run my car this thursday at import night at the drag but it wont be the same cause I have already sold my headers.
Yeah I dont think that turbo si was tunned right. The fastest wrx is in nation is in knoxville and it only ran like a 8.2 but chad didnt have it fully running right either so I dunno.
I'll post after this thursday or after I do a compression test.
BTW- Thanks for the help from you guys
JRios 06-30-2002, 11:08 PM I agree with PlanoSER, you probably have to lower your 60 ft. time. The first time I ever ran my car at a drag strip I ran a 9.8 with a cone filter, 19* timing and a PS header (stock exhaust). In that run I had a 2.33 60 ft. time and a .581 RT.
tg200ser 07-01-2002, 11:19 PM I think compression is supposed to be 150-178 psi. Altough most people i have heard from say theirs was ~180. I just had mine checked and it was 150 across the board, and my car is slow. I haven't run at the track yet because i'm too embarrased to see what will happen.
tommyJ 07-16-2002, 12:05 PM My best is a 10.2 @ 70mph with only a cone filter and 17 degree timing. 2.4 60 ft. Who needs an LSD (me, actually):(
darren109 07-16-2002, 05:29 PM What RPM you shift at will also effect your E.T. I shift into 2nd @ 7100 if I'm running the 1/8 and 7400 if I'm running 1/4. It took few weeks for me to find the right shift points for my car.
Mindset 07-16-2002, 09:07 PM 60ft: 2.305
330ft: 6.287
1/8 et: 9.599
1/8 mph: 74.76
1/4 et: 14.78
1/4 mph:93.54
this was with H/I/P/E/91 cam
skrible66 07-19-2002, 07:42 PM i had 10.2 with my us spec sr20de, mods: greddy header, exhaust, hotshot cai, and ngk wires and plugs with 17* timing...
compression was 180 across the board on that motor
havent ran my new j-spec sr20det yet but did test it at 160 psi across the board... well c soon enough though.
