: Best rev limit for a stock VE?

I wanna have the rev limit because the occasional GF and friend will be driving it.

Looks like 7500-7800 but I wanted to make sure.

That would be fine. Are you going to tell JWT to set the rev limit at that or will you be using something else to control it? The reason I ask is, it would be a pita to send the ecu back to them and pay another $100 if you ever decide to get cams and need to raise the limiter.

Good point. Any recommendations for a rev limiter (besides my eyeball). ;)

Bunch of bux, but several of the MSD ignition boxes give you an adjustable rev limiter. Dre sent me one of his JWT ecu's just before Calum came along; they had the rev limiter removed; on his recommendation I sprung for a Digital 6+. Also on his recommendation it's set for 7500. I repeat, on Dre's recommendation. Can you run 'em higher? Of course. The more you like to tear down shredded boat anchors, the higher you should set it. Next time this thing comes apart, to the extent that I can help it, will be for some cams actually designed for 2 liters (which probably means never).

Thanks^

I have no limiter, either, seat of the pants tells me 7500 I am still making power but 8000 is as far as I'd take it max, so 7500 is pretty reasonable. Nice to know there's a way to do it w/o embedding it into the JWT ECU.

EDIT sorry, no idea why this posted 2X or how to delete!

with stock cams its going to peak around 7200 or so, with 16 cams i can see why you need to take it to 8k

Went with JWT's reco on 7200. It is a DD after all and I bounced the limit on the DE more than enough. Wanna get some miles out of the VE and it is more than what I had so I should be good for a few days before wanting more. :D

Found out they no longer provide rear O2 or EGR delete. Did give me the reistor specs for doing so my self though. I love the smell of resin core solder in the night air.

Got a dyno graph of this? Stock cams peak at 7200 so 7500 is perfect.

Thanks for the replies by the way. It's great to have everyone's support, I probably wouldn't do a swap like this without it.

I figured since 7,800 seemed (about) the top that 7,200 was a respective safe point since my foot mashes the pedal to the floor regardless of redline. I'm watching the road in my cross-hairs more than the gauges in the dash.

I have a pack of resistors for the egr if you want me to send you a couple.

Sweet, that would save a trip to the local Radio Shack so I don't have to repeatedly decline the sale of a new cellphone just to buy some basic electronic part. :squint:
