: GC install question

I'm in the middle of my GC install and I noticed that the sleeves don't sit centered because of the shape of the lower spring seat. I know they are notched out a little but it seems like they need to be notched out more in order to sit flat. Anyone else grind them down a little more to help this?

Thanks!

If you rotate the sleeves, you should find that certain points will sit even with the spring seat. If not, then the sleeve may not be sitting straight on the strut body. It's hard to judge by eye but if you mess around with it you'll eventually find it. I recently thought I had the same problem too with my GC install, but eventually I got it. Good luck.

Well I rotated them around in every posision and some are better then others but its still not completely flat. For example, I found the best position and then put the spring on. I put the upper collar on and it wouldn't drop into place where it is supposed to sit. When I moved the spring to the side slightly it "popped" in but then the spring wasn't sitting flush with the bottom perch. It just seems like the notch needs to be ground down a little more for the whole assembly to line up perfectly. It doesn't seem to be the best idea to me to have the spring not be sitting totally straight on both perches.

Make sure you get the fronts on the fronts and the rears on the rears. Also when you put the rear bushing in you grease the living shit out of it with lithium grease or something to help the squealing back there.

Also everytime you jack the car up make sure to get the top hat back into place with the spring okay. Otherwise when you bring it back down and you start to drive around you will hear a big POP sound that will scare the shit out of you. (This freaked me out when I first did my install)

Catch me on AIM if you need me ok.

You can weld on a metal ring onto the strut body. This way the threaded collar will sit flat. More work but worth it if you don't want to deal with the noise issues related with improper collar alignment.

well i just installed my rear AGX/GC and i noticed that if you zip tie the hat to the spring they stay tight....i also usedthe rubber o rings and plus one piece of electrical tape over them t make the collar fit tight. I have no complaints on noise but i noticed that you cant go lower then what i already was on my H&R springs in the rear(i dont want to go lower)but i thought you would have enough to let it 'sit in the grass'.

Does the front let you go any lower????

Tom,

I told you not to use the cock rings and do the tape and silicone method. Plus you didn't call me when you got em you bastard!!!

How is the ride so far? Anything like mine yet??
