: what engine do i have in my car?
Texasbangerz 06-27-2002, 07:32 AM i have 94 Bluebird sss (u13) NA non turbo...so is the engine in this a s13, s14, u13 ? low port, high port ?....i have no idea, is there anyway i can tell by looking at the vin's...? im in thailand so it was either imported from japan or australia...thanx
Texasbangerz 06-28-2002, 05:18 AM c'mon i know there's some genius in here that has to know...:D
AaroNX 06-28-2002, 08:07 PM need pics
Chances are it's a lowport. But being as how we're not talking about U.S. standards here it could be I highport. So the best bet is to take a picture or look at a photo of both motors, and make the determination.
Benny Boy 06-28-2002, 08:56 PM You have a SR20DE in it! :D
Ben
Texasbangerz 06-29-2002, 02:29 AM yeah i got flamed hard over at altimas.net...because no one believes that a non US spec Bluebird/altima can have a SR20 as the stock motor....anyone know where i can take a look at both the high/low port engine without EGR ?
thanx..i cant find pics of both...
especse_r 06-29-2002, 06:43 AM This is the Nissan Bluebird (looks like an Altima) SSS (U13) of Australia. Is this the kind of car that you have?

Looks like this car got a GA16DE. Does it look like your engine?
http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~dstrebil/niSSSan/blu06.jpg
Hope this helps
Texasbangerz 06-29-2002, 08:32 AM yeahhh thats it !!! but mine is dropped 2" with 17" avanti rims with 215/45/17 tires.....
i'm so dumb... all i had to do was look at the head code.....turns out it has a 53J head on it....so that makes it the same as the
SE-R, so now... would that make it a low or high port ?

wow...people on that board get stupider by the minute.
as for high port, low port, here are some pics, try to spot the difference.

highport

lowport (just ignore the turbo, thats not where the difference is :D)
Texasbangerz 06-29-2002, 01:15 PM ...well darnit i was hoping i had the lowport (suppose to be better right ?) but it looks like its leaning towards the high port...the distro looks the same as the low port...but the injector rail looks like a high port...
my heads are 53J , these are the same as on the Classic SE-R right ? But didn't the classics have a low port ?
ehhh, maybe its some kind of Japanstein Mutation, i'll post pics if i ever get this film developed...
Do you have an external coil?
Texasbangerz 06-29-2002, 03:02 PM external coil ? seperate from the distro ? yes...stock unmodified...
AaroNX 07-09-2002, 04:57 PM Just look at the throttle bodies in the two pics. One is down low one is up top.
down low= high port
up top= low port
I know it sounds backwards. Hope I am helping:D
This is a Sport Compact article on SE-R.net:
http://www.se-r.net/about/sentra_se-r/scc/dec97/index.html
The '91-'92 Sentra SE-Rs had a superb cylinder head with intake ports that entered high in the head and flow straight down into the cylinder with very little bend. These early engines are recognizable by their inverted intake manifold that places the plenum and throttle body down low behind the engine-much like the 1994-1997 Integra GS-R's B18C engine. 1993 and later SE-Rs have intake ports which enter lower in the head and have to bend more sharply to enter the cylinder, reducing flow at high-rpm. These have a more conventional-looking intake manifold with the plenum on top.
There are two pics there, too.
brian 07-09-2002, 07:22 PM or it could be the ka24 too....................
AaroNX 07-09-2002, 08:24 PM Maybe he has the B18c out of the inegra in Fast and the Furious. You know the one that they want SR20s for.
Just kidding.
y don't u *** look at that plaque on the firewall to see what engine it is.
as for high/low port, like everyone said, TB up top = low and vice versa for high
NissanGuy01 07-09-2002, 09:22 PM that engine looks like a ka24de. i had a 92 1.6 and it looks nothing like that. it looks like my friends altima valve cover. and of course he has a ka24
Chrissy 07-09-2002, 09:35 PM I had a 94 1.6 and it looked exactly like that. That is a GA16.

NissanGuy01 07-09-2002, 09:42 PM well if that is a 1.6, can u see what is missing? The intake manifold. my 92 had a visible manifold similiar to the 94+ sr20's.
