: J-spec Header

I was over at a Nissan dealership by my house earlier this week picking up some parts and supplies, when one of their mechanics noticed my car and came over to me. He told me he had a J-spec exhaust header for his 200SX that he got through Nissan a little while ago and wanted to get rid of it because he no longer had the car. He didn't want any money for it and just gave it to me for free. He said I just have to drill 2 holes in the header, I know 1 was for the O2 sensor.

Now I was wondering how can I tell if this is a J-spec header? I checked for a part # on it, but no luck. I found some stamping on it which says H9 on one runner, and 1 17 on another (if that's any help). The heatshield that came with it as well is completely different than my stock one, and it's a 4-2 runner pattern. Also, what difference would I expect in swapping this J-spec header in, without porting, and with porting? Any idea guyz?

TIA

It sounds just like a stock JDM header. The presence of a heat shield indicates that it is probably not after-market.

If you wanted to use this, it should bolt right up to your block without any modification.

You will need a new downpipe, or you can probably shorten the stock one. This header will not support the EGR equipment or 02 sensor without modification.

The stock JDM header is a much nicer unit than the stock USDM unit, and should give a few extra HP.
