: SR20DE + T25
GateCrasher_VI 08-18-2007, 06:17 PM Okay, so my SR20DE is fun to drive. And I just landed a T25 snail for 30$, dropped it off at a turbo shop in the area to have it checked out and bearings or whatever else replaced.
Would anyone like to help me out with where to go from here?
I know I need piping, intercooler (maybe?), exhaust mani, i'm sure a new exhaust system would help alot....
I'd kinda wanna have the piping done at a local shop if anyone knew the dimentions and specs....i'm thinking it would be cheaper possibly, to have it done here locally at a fab' shop. just don't know what to ask for ><
I'll start with the guides. But I was just hoping for some pointers and pothole warnings. Is it even worth getting an ECU / boost controller for this size turbo?
GateCrasher_VI 08-18-2007, 06:43 PM would a "T25/T28 Exhaust Manifold & J-Pipe" do the trick for my exhaust?
they say.... :
"SR20DET Manifold & J-Pipe Jpipe for T25/T28. This is a REAL OEM SR20DET Jpipe and Manifold
It works on SR20DE, SR20DET, and SR20VE."
So it kinda looks to me like exactly what i'm gonna need. please someone...
PhorB13 08-18-2007, 06:55 PM The manifold would most likely be fine. Since you aren't running a T28, you don't ahve to get a T28 SPECIFIC manifold. This one should bolt right to your T25. The J0Pipe is another story. I WANNA say it'd be fine, but don't quote me. Get a picture of the "footprint" of the exhaust side of the turbo as well as the J-Pipe and make sure they match up. if so, then you are good to go.
As far as the intercooler piping is concerned, you would be best to get this done AFTER you have an intercooler lined up for your setup. How much boost do you want to run, etc etc all play factors to the size you need. Too big, and you will have lag up the A$$. Too small and you will be limiting yourself... BUT THIS ISN'T ALWAYS BAD if this is going to be a dialy driver, you don't need an intercooler that is good for 650HP *** you'll NEVER see that number probably. I'd say to get one that is good for about 300-350HP is plenty.
The actual exhaust itself, from cat back, is going to need to be at LEAST 2.5" Most on here will say just to go with 3" and many are right, if you want more power. If you are going to be satisfied with lower boost numbers, 2.5" is fine.
You are ALSO going to need an ECU to control this, an upgraded fuel pump, injectors, clutch and probably some brakes to help stop the power you'll be making. That';s just the basics, but there is plenty more. Any questions, just send me a PM. Good luck bro.
GateCrasher_VI 08-19-2007, 01:30 AM that last part, ECU, injectors, brakes, exhaust, was all on my mind already.
....but i just hit a brick wall. the footprint on the exhaust side of the turbo is circular.... DSM (think eclipse,) now, as is appearent on the pictures of the SR20DE turbo manifold, our footprint is something of a figure 8..... *Sigh* i don't know if i should even order this manifold now...and the auction ends in a day

GateCrasher_VI 08-19-2007, 01:50 AM grr, i can't figure out what i'm holding >< otherwise i'd look for some kind of adapter, not sure what to look for at this point to make it possible to bolt this sucker to the block
the only reason i mention an adapter is because a few friends were looking at it, and mentioned that the exhaust flange on it wasn't the right shape, and that i'd need some kind of adapter block to have it fit on a regular exhaust flange on an SR20DET exhaust mani

the ebay auction is just a sr20det RWD manifold from an s13. the turbo you have is a garrett mitsubishi hybrid turbo (completely different t25s) sorry
GateCrasher_VI 08-19-2007, 06:51 PM yea, thats what i've gathered.
just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to how to work-around this problem >.<
chriscar 08-19-2007, 06:56 PM I wouldn't bother. Not when you can buy the proper fwd sr20 specific T25 for cheap.

GateCrasher_VI 08-20-2007, 01:40 AM think these'll work?

these are the adapters i was thinking of
what kind of turbo is the "right" turbo for an SR20DET. what do i need to look for, to avoid this problem next time. a specific flange name? what kind of "exhaust flange" (i'm assuming thats what isn't the right match-up on the turbo i have) am i looking for....t3 t4....what, or does it go by some other name
