Hey guys... last year this was not a problem, however this year, whenever I decide to turn my air on, my car drops from a 1,000 RPM Idle to 0 RPMs and dies. What could cause this? I have no clue when it comes to A/C. Everything else with my car is fine...

Idle air control. Let your car idle without the a/c on. Have someone turn on the a/c as you tap on the iac motor. I see them stick and tapping on it will usually cause it to adjust like it should. If the idle raises while your tapping on it, you need an i.a.c. motor. I'm not sure where it's at on your model, but I think it's near your timing chain tensioner. Can anyone verify this? Hope this helps.

Anyone found any more info on this... I'm looking in the Haynes manual, but see nothing about i.a.c....

Looking in a 97 factory service manual, they show it to be behind the pcv. If your looking under the hood, it is behind the valve cover on the left side. It's round with an electrical connector plugging into it. It is right next to cylinder 1 intake runner. Tap the round part of the IACV, idle air control valve.
