Where do you guys get your motor oil for cheap? Specifically synthetic oils.

I've had luck with Target for Mobil 1. Sometimes the price is below $3.00. Normally it's about $4.09.

You can get 5 quart jugs of Mobil 1 full synthetic from Wall-Mart for right about $17. So about $3.20 a quart if you want to compare it to what Target has it for. I used to use Havoline synthetic from Advance Auto parts because it was cheap but it's not as cheap as Wal-mart's Mobil 1 or what WhiteSER quoted for Target. I noticed that the Mobil 1 is darker and thicker than the Havoline. What filters do you guys use? I've been buying the Purlolator Pure One filters from Advance Auto parts but they're not cheap, they're like $6, but I bought into the hype that they have more pleats and filter better. The K&N ones are like $8 IIRC but am not sure if they're worth the cost either. A lot of mechanics say it doesn't matter what oil or filter you use if you change it often, 3 months or 3K miles whichever comes first. However I just read this morning in the new Hot Rod they did dyno testing and found that the better friction resistance that full synthetic provides gave them around 10 more HP, don't recall the torque. Granted this was on a 400+ HP motor.

I use OEM filters and buy them 4 at a time to minimze contact with the $tealer..

I don't have any nearby WalMarts or Targets so I pay out the a$$ for Mobil1 at the parts store down the street. But they hooked me up so I don't mind.. I showed up after hours, after draining my oil already and begging for Mobil1. They had already cashed out so they gave me 4 qts and said "pay for them tomorrow" :D

wait for a sale at target and the Syhthetic Mobil 1 in all weights will go as low as $2.94, that's when you get a cart and empty the shelf :D
