: Crushed DSM bypass valve...
nismo94tuner 08-26-2007, 11:01 PM I finally got around to crushing it. I know it wasn't completely necessary but I figured why not since it was off the car. I installed it and took the car for a drive later on and the sound was completely different. It now flutters but I am scared that its compressor surge. Is there a way to tell if its just the bypass valve or compressor surge? I am not trying to damage the turbo doing this but at 13psi it was holding great and blew off fine. I honestly think this sounds better than a lot of Greddy Type-S and HKS bov's that I have heard. Just checking to make sure that crushing it made it too stiff to not be opening and causing surge.:biggthump
swiss 08-26-2007, 11:04 PM It's probably surge. :( Rent a vacuum gauge from an autoparts store and check it out.
nismo94tuner 08-26-2007, 11:06 PM Aw man, haha. I had a feeling it might be surge. When I am really getting on it building a lot of boost it doesn't surge at all. Just lets off a loud wooooosh. When i'm just cruising through town or on the highway building about 2 pound of boost, it flutters. I'll have to try that and see.
totaled200ser 08-26-2007, 11:12 PM i know you probably know this but you should have left it alone until you upgraded as it will hold 18-20 psi or so. how did you crush it? oh well they are cheap anyway. it sounds like it is working ok but i can't here the fluttering from here, oh oh wait there it is. lol, either way have someone take a look at it with a little more experiance and see what they say.

nismo94tuner 08-26-2007, 11:14 PM Lol. I know under WOT its great. I just don't want it to hurt the turbo by not opening to release just low boost.
t bags 08-26-2007, 11:16 PM use a stronger vac line--i run mines seperate/or the big line that most peeps use for the carbon can.what did u use to crush it with?all it takes is a hammer and 2 good strikes
nismo94tuner 08-26-2007, 11:18 PM I used a vice I have down in the basement. Just twisted it slowly to where the nipple for the vac is sitting right above the flat surface of the top.

nismo94tuner 08-27-2007, 07:07 PM Too much gas? Because you know i'm on it all the time to hear it blow off? Lol. I actually barely can hear it, the 3'' downpipe came free and I can't hear shittttt.:D
totaled200ser 08-27-2007, 10:00 PM swiss is right i meant cheap as in you can go to a junkyard or get one from a dsm part out for very little money
