Hey Guys,
Here is the scoop. I own a 93 nx2000 manual non abs version. I have been having an on going very strange set of problems (have read all posts related). Did an engine swap with the same sr20de from Japan, Some minor differences such as alternator distributor a little different anyway I also replaced the clutch when we pulled tranny of I was amazed to see the clutch bearing had been hammered (I think) on to the input shaft as it appeared to be too small for the shaft after speaking and knowing all owners this is the orig tanny and clutch (all work had been done by Nissan other than that). Bought new clutch for this vehicle bearing too small for input shaft (remember orig tranny) sent it back, new one same problem. Ordered new bearing from Nissan (gave vin number) too small for shaft So we ground out some material from the bearing to make it fit which it did tight!! Have gone through 3 clutches all within 300 miles 1st broke in centre of pressure plate, the last two broke at the springs…thought crappy Fenco clutch and maybe drove too hard too quick. So then ordered a genuine Nissan nx2000 clutch and a new fly wheel new motor mounts, clutch cable (checked run out ..perfect) bearing again too small for input shaft. Once installed with new flywheel when shifting the clutch/tranny area makes a strange grating kind growling/grinding sound but not in nuteral..was advised that is a bad tranny (bearing or something) I am skeptical as it never made this sound before with other clutches (even though they broke) and was unsure as to how tranny can go bad sitting in lot. By the way with this new Nissan clutch I can put it in gear like butter without even using the clutch. is that strange and does that indicate something. Here are my questions. 1) Any idea how the input shaft can be too big if orig Nissan tranny. 2) Does anything sound like clutches being installed wrong? 3) Any idea on the new noise I am hearing only after Nissan clutch installed. is it a CLUTCH noise or TRANNY noise…the mechanic is getting frustrated with having to do all this work over and over. I want to make sure he is installing right. By the way even though i changed for the same engine sr20de the japaneese engine is so much faster..no joke it is like a bullet is there a difference??? compression was measured at 194!! cause the pedal does not lie
Thanks in advance Andy. FL
