Is there a Difference between a Cheap and an expensive Boost control?

Yes... if you go really cheap, you can get one the resides in your engine bay and if you want to change boost levels, you would have to pop your hood and turn it...
The Greddy profec-B is the one most used... it has high, low, and off settings and is inside the car...
You can also get an Apex'i AVC-R for more and have some graphix and cool looking stuff...

Let me know which one you get. I think it's kinda outrageous to pay $500+ For a Greddy Boost control.

I bought one for 50$CAN. It's very well made. The guy told me that it doesn't cause boost spiking. It's installed but I didn't use it yet!

Yeah you can go cheap, but would you really want to risk your engine like that?? It's better to be safe than sorry.
The greddy profec-b is about $360...
the APEX'i AVC-R is about $475...

There's a graduation with numbers and a very good grip to turn it!

RaserX, you need to learn more about how boost and boost controllers work. An EBC like the ProfecB has basic mechanicals just like the MBC's on boostcontroller.com. If you don't know anything about it, don't talk shit about it. It is not risking the motor at all if you get a reliable and proven manual boost controller like the Joe P or Hallman. I personally have the Hallman and love it. I guess since they don't work, that's why I run low 13's with a MBC and HotshotSR20 runs high 12's with a MBC too.

all boost controllers can and will explode your motor if you want it to. homemade jobs are not for the mechanically inexperienced, just buy a hallman or other popluar MBC.

i have a Joe P, and it is dead nuts stable, spikes a little above 10 (like 11 psi, for a second) and holds it well. annoying if you want 2 boost settings, as you have to get out of the car and shit.
