: WHAT CLUTCH do you use ?
bl200sx 06-29-2002, 02:34 PM Hi, I am intrested in what type of clutch everyone has in there SR20 tranny turboed cars, I was thinking maybe certain types of clutches, might make the trannys break easy, like the 3rd gear problem. OK if you got the time, say what brand of clutch you have, about how much boost you use, what turbo, if you have had any tranny problems, and how hard you use the clutch. Oh one more thing how long has the clutch been in use.
Ok, this is my setup: clutchmasters stage 3 clutch, with 11lbs CM flywheel.......T3/40e I boost at 10-15psi.......I have had no tranny problems yet (knock on wood) the clutch has been in the car for 2 yrs now, I try to be easy on the tranny, most of the time.
djisnx2000 06-30-2002, 08:48 AM I use a custom ceramic clutch that I bought 400$CAN. They normally put that on muscle cars with slicks for drag racing, so it will old (eventually) the 300whp my car will have.
Loe Lyf 06-30-2002, 10:43 AM ACT 6 puck solid center disc w/ stock PP. So far so good, only had stock DET and this clutch for 2 weeks. A lot of chatter with this clutch until you learn to work with it.
PSSSHHHGOESMYSR20 06-30-2002, 12:18 PM Clutch Specialties Hyper clutch 6 puck with JWT Pressure plate.
ktrends 06-30-2002, 01:52 PM I run a custom 6-puck all metal disc, with a 35% over pressure plate.
LaRocca Racing 06-30-2002, 09:42 PM i have a clutch masters stage 4 its a 4 puck w/sprung hub 170% over stock.... unless your use to it it chatters in 1st gear.. but is very streetable... clutch pedal feels about 25% over stock
great clutch!

92SE-R 07-01-2002, 12:17 PM Not HD, Xtreme STeve. :D
i just orderd the ACT HD presher plate and street disk good to 240 ft-lbs torque they clame
AntonioG 07-01-2002, 07:46 PM I believe that you should run the weakest clutch you can get away with. Especially in our cars with their relatively weak trannies.
So, with my DET setup, I run a JWT PP and stock disk. It has held fine at stock boost and with the Redline Heavy Shockproof tranny fluid, I don't think I'll be grenading my tranny anytime soon. I have run this setup for a while now - first with a 50 shot of N2O and now on the DET for 6 months. With those mods, I don't see how anyone could baby the car, but I don't powershift. The clutch disk should be the first to go, and in that case, I will upgrade to a tougher disk only (and not a puck-style).
All in IMHO.
paNX2K&SE-R 07-01-2002, 10:27 PM I'm using a 110k mile stock pressure plate with the ACT street disc. I had the Xtreme pp in at first but wouldn't disengage b/c it was defective. I'll put the new ACT in when I get it. I've been using this setup since November and its only slipped a few times. I'm running a stock DET with 4 pulley set and 8psi of boost.
TurbochargedSER 07-02-2002, 08:10 PM ACT Xtreme P/PL w/ ACT 6 Puck! They only way to hold the power is with a 6 Puck!
