so here's the deal. 92 se-r. tags expired and i can't go through emissions without a 5th gear(due to popout). driver side cv axle needs to be replaced, along with motor mounts. also, there is a nasty squeal when downshifting and im not sure whats causing it. it happened shortly after i had a new clutch installed so wondering if its the throwout bearing, but im not sure why because he was supposed to put in a new one. anyways, i will have about $3000 beginning of november and im wondering what to do. i can either buy another used car and hope it doesnt suck, or i can put the 3k into this. i dont know if i should have the transmission fixed or just replace it, and i dont really know shit about cars so i dont think a transmission swap would be something i could do myself unless somebody that knew what they were doing was there to help. would it be more worth it to fix this car or just get a different one? tia

Well if u replace the tranny, u could replace the axle and throw out bearing at the same time.. By doing it all yourself your only gonna spend like 600 bucks.

i see you live in phx. where would i buy a tranny from? and which kind? i see some threads say to put in a b15 tranny. like i said, i dont really know shit about taking off the tranny etc but with guidance id be willing to do it myself.

If you really like the car and want to keep it. Fix it. Its all up to what you like and enjoy. If you think you want something else then move on. Thats all there is to it. If I had 3k Id just do the ve swap :P.

i definitely want the car, but i have to see if its financially feasible to keep, or at least justifiable to my gf :P i dont know if i can afford the downtime of a ve swap :(

the b15 is the strongest tranny you can get for the b13 i think...but from the write up i saw it would be a lot of work...

next down is the p10 or p11 tranny im pretty sure...and i "think" that ones more of a tranny for tranny swap...

your in gilbert, just noticed that, go to the pick a part thats in mesa, they have a g20 there, still got the engine and tranny, i stripped a couple parts off of it but it was in mint condition for being in a yard...

You would need a b15 2.0 with the sport package to get the lsd tranny from, or a p10/p11 g20t with axles as well.. Just find yourself a good b13 lsd tranny. You really don't need any else unless your planing on making big power. Call around to some junk yards. I think there's someone in town selling one on the southwest region part of the forum.

the b14 is not 30% stronger, they're about the same with a less chance of 5th gear pop-out. also, a few B14 came without lsd. all B13's came with LSD.


B15 have shorter gears than the P11

Not all b15 2.0 cars came with lsd. So to get the top notch b15 lsd tranny everyone want you have to find a b15 2.0 sentra that had the sport package.
