: cm light flywheel

I put a clutch masters stage 2 clutch w/ full face kevlar disc and the cm light weight flywheel to replace my fried stock clutch. I'm going turbo this winter so I got the flywheel at the same time.
My problem is the crank pos. sensor is causing the mil light to come on. I figured I hit it during the replacement process so I got another sensor to try out. A friend of mine that helped with the clutch happens to work at a trans. shop during the day, and a G20t came in for a full tranny rebuild. So I got a $50 part for free. That didn't help. He also has a code reader so he can check and reset the mil light for me anytime.
I'm thinking the flywheel is about 2mm smaller in diameter than the stock one. I measured how far in the stock wheel sat from the cps hole. The cm sits a little further in (I think).
Anyone else have this problem? Or can shed some light on my dilemma?
TIA, Scott

I also checked the cps voltage with both sensors and they both work.

Is the flywheel for the B14's? I mean technically my Fidanza isn't for my car because it doesn't have the crank angle sensor, but the classics don't have this. I have a CEL too, just pull the bulb or cover it with black tape or something.

It is for the B14. The cas runs off of the teeth on the flywheel. By having a little smaller diameter flywheel, it may have caused the cas to send a different voltage to the ecu.

Andreas Miko posted about this problem. He said it only causes the MIL light to come on, no other adverse effects. The car does NOT go into limp mode, you just have an annoying light on.

My one question stems from Georgia's new Big Brother emissions testing program. Since they are jacking into my computer for emissions testing, will the CEL trigger any codes that would keep me from passing the test?

The SE-R is my second car, but I do still like to drive it to work fairly often - so I definitely need to stay street legal.

TIA for input.

yes, they WILL trigger codes, and prevent you from passing.

we have the same problem in utah (the ecu test instead of the tailpipe test that is)

I haven't found any solutions yet except buy a Unorthodox or JWT flywheel if you want to stay street legal

FYI: The JWT will cause a cel too.

I just posted another post. Basically I am interested in designing a device that will send a fake signal in place of the crankshaft position sensor. This will allow the use of a aluminum flywheel without setting a code. Hopefully, I can find someone to help me out with this, as I can not take any voltage or current readings on my car since I already have an aluminum flywheel installed.

I've thought of doing the same thing, and may do it, the FSM has the information what a "normal" signal is, but I have to find out of it compares the flyheel sensor to the distributors crank angle sensor - if so it will be a little more complicated.
