anyone know what the ideal intakepipe resonance is for our SR20DE engines ?....in car audio as you know you can tune a sub, at a specific resonant frequency, with factors including box size and port length, power, etc...wondering if in some way this can be applied to engines, to send the intake pressure at certain cycles, maximizing a rhythmic flow to the intake...i want to experiment with making bent tubing intakes...so all info is greatly appreciated...

From what I understand, AEM has done more R&D regarding resonance and/or tuning.
And the price reflects that!

I would love to see a dyno of a 2.5 inch versus a 3 inch on the DE. IMHO the 2.5 is probably the best for the de with stock MAF. The hole on the stock MAF is very small, all the conectors for the pipes at 2.5 inches match much better. AEM uses the 2.5 inch on the de and some other cars. PR an HS use 3 inch. As the engine gets bigger or revs higher they jump up to 2.75 and then 3 inch's. You can tell what size tubing they use on the intake by looking at what bypass valve they use. If it is a 2.5 inch pipe intake then it uses the 2.5 bypass valve. It is interesting to look at what engine gets what size intake on thier website.

thanx for that info...but do you know if those are interior/exterior dimensions of the tubing ?

I can tell you right now my AEM CAI sounds different and I
*think* feels faster than when I had my Hotshot CAI.

If Storm88000 can only "think" it feels faster than I'd say there isn't much difference. Save yourself the agony of R&D ing, buy the PR CAI and save that extra cash for something like a turbo, cams or headwork, items that will truely give real gains.

Well FYI I got the AEM CAI for the same price as a PR CAI from a forum member.

I have to make it out of neccessity, if i import it, the cost is going to skyrocket (working out of the country right now)
besides i cant see myself paying anywhere between $150-$300 for a piece of tubing that cost less than $5 to make... :D
i think different heat coatings can be made that will far exceed anything available .... one idea is to paint it then sprinkle ceramic powder over the first coat than paint again.....another thing i've been thinking of is coiling a tube around the intake, connecting it to the windshield wiper reservoir and using the water in the tank to run through the hose with a pump...everything is already there to use...
