I decided to try and reground my MAF sensor today. I have the harness off of the MAF sensor and im trying to solder the new ground wire into the harnes. Do you just pull the old white ground wire out, or do you splice into it? Thanks.

You can do it either way, but I would suggest you leave the old one there and try to solder the new wire directly to the connector. If you take your time, you should be able to remove the connector and wire from the casing using a very fine small flat head screwdriver. Solder to it then push it back in.

soldering is for the birds.. go to the walmart auto section and find a 3m wire splitter... you buy a little package of like 3 for $1.99, each one has 3 holes, you put wires in and press it shut.. pretty cool..
to attach the wire to either of those 2 bolts just get a O ring and crimp the wire into it and tighten the bolt down over it..
then go for a drive and notice how you car feels exactly the same... that is unless you have a poor running se-r and you are trying to problem solve.

I was going to reground my maf but it had no resistance at all to ground so I left it alone. If I was going to do it I would pull the connector apart and remove the wire from the contact and solder the new ground wire to the contact and put the harness back together. That would be the right way to do it. I wouldn't use those shitty wire splitters, they fall apart and don't make enough contact with the wire. I only use those for low voltage, low amperage applications, like ground sensing wires from alarms that tap into your pin switch wiring and the like. Or tapping off power to run a relay. And when I do use them I use the 3M T-taps not the kind andy was talking about. And I certainly don't pay $2 for three of them, I get a box of like 50 or 100 for $5. In short, if you're going to do it, do it right or don't bother to do it at all.

pulling apart a perfectly good wiring harness seemed dumb to me.
tapping into the orig ground wire provides an additional route for current to flow.
the 3m connections make plenty of contact with the wire and close nice and snug.. the top is clear so you can see your work.

I would think so too, but I'm pretty sure that the harness comes apart easily for this very purpose.
