: Finally Installed Fastbrakes Kit for B14 wheels
98sr20ve 06-30-2002, 05:32 PM It has been a long time in coming but I finally got the fastbrakes kit for the B14 wheels finished. It took a lot of work. Here is the boring stuff: 11-inch diameter by .9inch thick 2-piece directional vane rotor, Wilwood Billet caliper. It fits behind the B14 wheels with a spacer or you could possibly trim/file the caliper and not use the spacer. I got the Wilwood brake pads that Brian at fastbrakes recommended. They are more aggressive then the EBC Greens but still fine for daily use.
I drove these things around town. These brakes are awesome. They have absolutely no drawbacks at all while driving. The pedal feel is much tighter then my old OEM calipers, the amount of pressure needed to stop is much less, the feel of what the pad is doing is fantastic. You can actually feel the pad gliding over the rotor. Makes it much easier to control. My pads are not fully bedded in yet so I haven’t done any heavy braking over 60 mph. It feels like you could lock these things up at 100mph easy. I will try this soon. I remember everyone being concerned about needing an Altima MC. I don’t feel any need to do this at all. Maybe after I do the rears. Brain has the Maxima rotors drilled for 4X100 if anyone wants to do the rears also.
As far as what Brian would charge for these things, I really don’t know. Go to www.fastbrakes.com and contact him directly. I think it is about $850-900 or so. Considering that the BABK is $1300 this is a steal. Those who were in on the group buy should still get a discount. Just contact him. I still have your info if he needs to confirm that you were in the original group buy.

Correction. I bet I could lock these brakes up at 120-130 mph. I used what I thought was a reasonable amount of pressure at 100mph. All I saw was smoke out the rear view. I need to totally relearn braking at this point. Also, I think the rear upgrade would be nice. Very Nice. Now all I need is the VE to get me up to 130mph.
bl200sx 06-30-2002, 11:07 PM Hi, thanks very much for the info on the fastbrakes, I need them very bad, keep us updated on how well they are doing.

I have the Rota C8's. They fit with no spacers and a lot of room to spare. I would bet these things will fit behind any decent 15 inch wheel without a spacer. With a spacer even more.

what do the c8 looks like?
98sr20ve 07-01-2002, 10:30 AM Here is a link (http://www.machiii.net/machiii/html/main001.html). I think they match the lines of the B14 very well. Almost look like they came with the car. Some people hate them because they look like Mugen 8's for the honda crowd. They are light and have tons of caliper clearance. Plus, I have not heard of people damaging them easily.

Do you know specifically what pads? Wilwood offers a series of Polymatrix pads. I've been running the "D" pad for the street.
I bet it was worth the wait too huh steve? I had no idea how much SE-R brakes suck till i put these 11" bad boys on. what a difference and worth every penny!
Can you tell me more about the wilwood pads? I am doing another track event in 3 weeks, and I wouldnt mind trying out another pad.
thanks

I buy the "D" compound from Summit Racing at under $50 shipped. I ran the D's at Mosport last weekend because I haven't decided whether to run the "C" compound or go with a completely different manufacturer. I want a track pad that's more aggressive than the "D" but still easy on the rotors. I considered Hawk Blues but have heard they chew up rotors pretty bad. I think I'll try the "C" compound in a couple weeks.
Jim, you got a part # for those pads? We have the same calipers.
thanks

I ordered the rear maxima rotors from Brain the other day. I will be putting the rears on soon. That should be easy. Now I just need to find the Maxima calipers for a good price.
